rubiX Focused 1.8.9/1.9.3

sorry i didnt save any screenshots but here is what i noticed.

with 1.8.6, the longest i would stay at a level is about 2-3 hours. Even at night when i was asleep and the phone was set at performance. When i used it, the average was about 10% every hour. I probably had the screen on 40%-50% of the time.

with 1.8.9, i had gone 5-6 hours at 80% when i went to sleep. I thought this was gonna be my battery saver, but turns out that was the best it did. I used it throughout the day and my battery drained 10% every 30 minutes it seemed like.

I did use it a little more that day, but not too much more. 50%-60% of on screen time. After that it seemed like normal use would drain 10% in less than an hour, but if i left it completely alone, it could last forever.

i have reinstalled 1.8.6 and i am just testing it out. i was fully charged at 2:30 pm and am at 70% with 35% of on screen time. I have not used it as much, but the battery seems to be getting a little better over time. First hour, it lasted 30 minutes at 100%, then 45 minutes in between 90-80 and then an hour and a half at 80-70.

my schedule has been weird with the holidays, so next week i will really be able to put these roms to the test.

I will add that i have bad reception at work, but still get 3g / 1x -

One way to revert back the settings for vm.vfs_cache_pressure, would be to load 1.8.6.

Would still love for someone who's done some testing on the battery issue to load up 1.8.6 and confirm if it resovles it.. if so, then we know that it's one of the tweaks specific to 1.8.9. IF it still exists in 1.8.6, then could be a framework issue...

well i loaded 1.8.6 today and im still doing some testing. i did an sbf last night, loaded 1.8.6, then my apps, and then loaded 1.8.9 on top of that.

i was still having some weird battery issues so went back to the the 1.8.6 and im not seeing too much of a difference yet. I do need to give 1.8.6 another day though. I did do battery stat resets in between so i know its calibrated.

So far, 1.8.9 does amazing while the phone is on sleep. but thats all i have to say.

I do notice that the CPU uses one thing a lot.... i cant remember the name, but its not overwhelming. its just a few minutes, but still more than what the others use.

-------------------------
im not too sure how things work, but i love trying out new roms so testing it is fun for me.

i will keep up the updates but im kind of anxious for UD and drod's next release

Good feedback, thanks!

Also, Hope you don't mind, but I'd like to give you some constructive criticism regarding your site. :)
I'm all for sites that help people out, give tips/suggestions/etc. But I also strongly believe that credit should be given to where it is due.... even if it is a link back to a post, or thread, or whatever. Biggest example, is for the ROM Release notes, you blatently copy/pasted the first post of a ROM announcement, with no credit back to the dev/author, nor where to get support, or anything. (Pretty sure this is the case for Focused, and I know it is for the 2.3.320 leak..) That's bad form, I might suggest linking back to the source in your posts.. for the benefit of your readers, as well as those who are trying to do support. :)

Thanks!

yea i know... im horrible at keeping my site updated. i'll definitely be keeping up with the sourcing. thanks for the input!

ok so i have a question if i wanna sbf and start fresh can i? been thinking of giving ultimate droid a whirl im bored lol im not running the leak

You can, it will completely removed Focused in the process. Some people have reported issues when going from Focused to the leak, so I believe they're recommending you .sbf before loading that leak anyway.

The only thing I can say about the leak, is DO YOUR RESEARCH.. read the thread on mydroidworld.. then read it again. (You may notice the every 3rd post or so is about someone who had to call VZW and have their phone replaced, because they are now bricked). There ARE risks, and there ARE rewards...?? uhmm, I think. I've only been able to find 3 things that are supposedly fixed in the patch.. the "media file type not recognized" bug, supposedly it fixes random reboots (but have seen plenty of people say they still randomly reboot after), and something else.. can't remember.
IF that's worth potentially bricking.. then it might be worth it... Go for it.
Also know there is no full .sbf for it.. so if you do get in a boot loop, or can't access recovery, you'll be making a call to VZW. Again, no disrespect for anyone that's done it, the team that put it out, the devs, anyone. Just PLEASE KNOW that there are risks.
DO YOUR RESEARCH before you attempt it.

I was wondering anyone know if i can delete something called -.trashes on my sd??? is it safe????

No clue. Looks like it's put there by something in Android (not an app, or whatever), so it may be there for a reason. Do it at your own risk... I'd probably just leave it alone...

Thanks

Much appreciated its just that my mac puts stupid bs on my phone like DS files and other nonsense and clutters the sd so i had a feeling it came from that. Also could you answer the question about themes if you got time thanks!

Just curious, did you notice any slowdown from BlackJuice themes? I like the green, but I got a bit of slowdown...personally I'm very happy with Sephtin's BlackBar...puts a nice touch on Rubix w/o hindering performance at all...

Nah bro

Nah bro blackjuices theme does not slow it at all its great, the charging meter is kinda annoying because its hard for me to see the exact percent but its cool, I have heard incognito is AMAZING but i cant find it lol.

hmm, never tried incognito, but I gotta say, the battery icon on BlackJuice is one of my favorite features about it, haha...one bar for each 10%...and arranged in such a way that it looks like a Stargate...very cool! dancedroid ah well, to each their own ;)

I just went thru this tonite. I screwed something up (accicentally started to flash a 2.3.15 rom, realized my mistake and yanked the battery)

Was stuck on the M, so I booted into bootloader and used RSD to flash the 2.3.2 system only SBF. Then I re-installed CM Recovery and restored my latest Nandroid backup. So now I'm running Rubix 1.9.3 again with no after effects.....

You know, I'm almost certain they've fixed the random reboots by just upping the stock voltages. Stock voltages on the OTA were:

1000 56
800 50
600 38
300 27

But now, after the leak, they're:

1000 62
800 58
600 48
300 33

Also, while I do appreciate your conservatism, I think the risks here are not with the leak per se, but with the users themselves and the slight chance that their phone has hardware issues. I always wait a week or so after the upgrade is released and .sbf to stock before flashing. If people do that and follow directions, I think there's little risk. What little risk there is, though, is that their phone has an underlying hardware issue, their computer craps out during the upgrade, etc. These are things that would crop up during an official upgrade too, but in this case you can't just tell Verizon you were upgrading, you'll have to lie.

Having said that, this release did have difficulties. A number of people had refurbed phones and were already running the 30.04 bootloader (and thus the old keys messed up their upgrade). This information about the refurbs running the new bootloader was known before the leak was released, and it's a shame that the TBH crew wasn't connected to it beforehand. Of course, the community doesn't have perfect information sharing, and it's spread amongst lots of different sites that not everyone frequents, so stuff like this will happen from time to time. But, TBH seems to be working on a solution for these people, has released a lifeline for successful upgraders, and has promised a way back so future upgrades will be possible (in hindsight this is to be expected; the moto testers have to be able to upgrade their software, right?). Also, the /system only .sbf is all we need at the moment since no one is releasing anything other than /system replacements. Really, once you successfully upgrade to the leak, there's relatively little danger.
