rubiX Focused 1.9.5

The patch now clears cache and dalvik cache, so it probably reset it.. :S

Sephtin, could you explain what information is stored in the cache and the dalvik cache and what happens when you clear them? I'm a bit confused as to how the phone uses these caches. Thanks!

Sure.
Caching is a way to make things faster on the phone. So, any information that applications commonly use is cache, so it doesn't have to load it every time you run the application.
This includes system applications, and something from one of the system apps seems to cache something that doesn't play well between the two versions.

You can wipe it at any time, and you lose nothing. The applications will have to re-cache some info then next time you start them, so may be slow to start on first run after wiping cache.. but it's harmless.

I haven't switched over from GummyJAR yet. I installed Swype and camera apps and an updated dialer that I'd like to use on this ROM. I think they're universal. Can anyone confirm that they will work on 1.9.5?

I would test all of the versions of swype, the multitude of camera apps, and the hundred or so other dialer apps on the market...

But no time. So since you didn't provide any specifics on which apps/versions/etc. I'll just have to venture a guess and say this:
If it worked on GummyJar, there's a really good chance it'll work just fine on Focused.

Sephtin. Which camera app were you refering to? And someone was refering to an alternate dialer. Do you know what they were refering to? Thanks

1st off, awesome ROM. so smooth and fast...

i know i made a mistake,trying to look for a answer....

i loaded 1.9.5 from drod twitter page didnt wait for it to go to the website, and realized later that u needed to be on 2.3.340 and ive been on the leak forever 2.3.15.

well it loaded fine and everyting seems to be in order but media i.e. pandora and music doesnt seem to be working, i know i read if you werent on the 340 than it messes up all media.... i loaded the themed bversion of 1.9.5.... question is there a leaked 340 so i can just update the system. (if i can even do that)

everything is working great other than the media....

what would be the best course of action.

sbf?- wouldnt even know which one to use anymore.
then reload?

Oops, forgot to give the info. I installed the stock camera, camcorder and gallery apps and this updated dialer for GummyJAR 1.9 (xda-developers). I'm thinking they'll work, but I just like to get a warm fuzzy from someone first to confirm it's ok. Here's a pic of the dialer.

Thanks for the info! So, there are 2 caches? How does the dalvic cache differ from the other?

The battery manager is part of the framework, and isn't in the new framework that Focused uses... so it's a no-go.

To change keyboards (input method)... long press in any text input box, and press input method, to pick the keyboard.

dalvik cache usually doesn't matter, but can be the cause of issues from one theme to another, and since it doesn't hurt to wipe it, did so as a precaution in the patch.

Dalvik is specific to the applications java VM.

There IS a 340 system only .sbf, but that would defeat the purpose. The media issue is caused by the kernel (bootloader) not being 2.3.340... so updating system wouldn't do you any good.

If you're on 2.3.15, you want the 2.2 .sbf file floating around. .sbf back to 2.3.15, and grab the OTA:
Menu> Settings> About phone> System updates.

Once the OTA is complete to 2.3.340, z4root will get you rooted, and DroidXBootstrapper to get into recovery... and you're on your way to a fully functioning Focused.

(img removed)

If it works on Gummy 2.x , it should work fine on Focused 1.9.5

Edit: After looking at that.. I believe it's the GB dialer. :P
The dialer in Focused IS the GB dialer (themed).. unless I'm missing something, Focused already has it?

Yes, you would have to
1. sbf to 2.3.320 from HERE

2. then reroot your phone using z4root

3. download THESE files to the root of your SD card.

4. reboot to clockwork recovery and install each of the files from step 3 one at a time starting with the 2.3.340 system only zip. May need to reroot again.

Follow these steps in order and using the directions posted in the links and in 15 minutes you will be on 2.3.340.

He said he's on 2.3.15... so I wouldn't .sbf to 2.3.320, I'd .sbf back to 2.3.15, and update to the OTA directly...

If you're on 2.3.15, can you just .sbf directly to 2.3.320, and it'll update your baseband/kernel/mbm to 2.3.320 directly?
I've never seen confirmation of that working as an upgrade path... ?

Not sure it's any easier either.. heh.. but **shrug**.. either way.

If you were to use the 2.3.320 full sbf you would still have to apply the kernal and system patches by tbh in order to be on 2.3.340. If I were you I would just sbf back to 2.3.15 and do the ota
