rubiX Focused 1.9.5

I just updated from 315 to 340. Then installed rom. Everything is great. Super fast and smooth. One BIIIIIG problem though!!!****

I lost all my photos but one in my sd card. I also lost all my music album art and videos. Does anyone know what happened??? I tried using OI and Astro to browse card.

Ya got me on this one...
Those are stored on SD, this shouldn't happen.
If there was some kind of sync issue, it's possible. I mean, when you sync with the PC, and tell it to import all photos (etc.) there's an option to delete.. so I suppose it's possible that for some weird reason, they were somehow removed...
In fact, I have hard of people loading ROMs, but I don't know if it was ever determined what the cause was. :(

That sucks. Guessing you never sync'd your pics with your computer... ? :(

Question. I manually updated myself from .320 to the .340 baseband, kernel, system, and bootloader via individual files and verified it was all there. With that said, should installing this ROM be a safe bet even though my .340 update was not OTA?

The ROM will work fine with 2.3.320 and 2.3.340. I would however finish updating to 2.3.340 via the patches here (just don't load the /system patch):
TBH Patches: 2.3.340-System, Baseband, 2.3.340-Kernel, Bootloader

He said he's on 2.3.15... so I wouldn't .sbf to 2.3.320, I'd .sbf back to 2.3.15, and update to the OTA directly...

If you're on 2.3.15, can you just .sbf directly to 2.3.320, and it'll update your baseband/kernel/mbm to 2.3.320 directly?
I've never seen confirmation of that working as an upgrade path... ?
.

Well I did. Not saying it wasn't possibly unique and I got lucky but I sbf'ed from 15 to 320 and didn't have any issues other than I couldn't go back. Not saying its right or wouldn't brick someone but worked for me without incident. I am ocd enough that I too would sbf back and to the ota if I could.

I actually did the update similar to yours but I think it would be easier just to do the ota just because you are supposed to apply each tbh patch separatley and reboot between. Its just a lengthy process. But then again if you do it that way you always have a full sbf to fall back on only having to apply the patches when done. Both methods will still get you to 2.3.340

If you've .sbf'd from 2.3.15 to 2.3.320, and then updated to 2.3.340 via the kernel patch.. does about phone show your kernel as version:
2.6.32.9-g55626e1

?

I never backed up my photos... but I fixed the problem!! :-)
Somehow they get lost or mislabeled on the sd card. Here's the link to the fix. This program even brought up old photos that I deleted a long time ago. Dam this saved my ass!!!

Does anybody know where I can find the DX video player apk? I liked the stock DX video player in previous rubix builds, it played quite a few different file types.

sephtin, will your DX_Camera(BlurCameraFromFission).zip work with 1.9.5? Thanks.

I believe it does (I tried it in an early alpha version and it worked fine.. so it should)...

Here is a question. I have been monkeying about between this and apex. really like them both, RubiX 1.9.5 is winning except for one thing. Moto did something right with their camera. and i was wondering if anyone had the current 2.3.340 camera about?

It looks like Rubix is running a non-stock camera thats been out for some time, which is fine. just really got to like the other. if any of you want an example Apex 1.3.1 has it (only reason i started there is because they beat Rubix to the 2.3.340 support)

I'm also curious, was there something in the camera preference?

Focused 1.9.5 is running a VERY recently compiled copy of the AOSP camera that is straight from the Android Open Source Project.. it's the vanilla android camera (NOT an old camera)... **sigh**.
Edit: It was compiled on Dec. 22nd. I assume drod pulled the source on the same date. Regardless, the AOSP version of the camera included with Focused is NEWER than the Blur version. :P
Regarding it being "non-stock"... Not sure if you've checked recently, but NONE of the apps in Focused are stock! ;) Most are AOSP, some from other builds... but NO MOTO BLUR in Focused. <3

The MOTO blur camera is another option. The version that you've seen linked in this thread is the one from 2.3.15.
The only thing I know of that's different between the 2.3.15 BLUR camera, and the 2.3.340 BLUR camera, is that the 2.3.340 camera adds nearly a full second between the time you press the button, and when it takes the picture... :S

If you really want it, I could probably package it, and put it up for ya.. ?

Just a reminder. The ROM is BLURLESS. It's by design. The entire point of Focused is to get AWAY from Blur. Any patches/fixes/etc. that add blur back are unsupported.. some work, some don't.. they're not a part of the ROM.
(BUT, they do make a few people happy, so I try to find working versions of stuff, and make them available when I can)...

If you want, you could probably pull it from here:
2.3.340 Deodexed System only .zip — sephtin.com

Deodexed/rooted 2.3.340 system. It'd be in /system/app... just push it to your /system/app, and don't forget to fix permissions.

HTH!

Edit: Same for the 2.3.340 BlurCamera... for a previous posted.. I hadn't thought about it..

Scripts will not run correctly

Hi!! Awesome ROM!!

After the ROM upgrade however:

Trying to run the scripts from the first page of this thread using terminal emulator (especially the office script), but not getting any restults. I am running these from the root folder. But I am getting the following errors:

mount: Operation not permitted
failed on 'system/app/QuickOffice.bak' permission denied
mount: not permitted
Restored Quick Office app

I am getting this type of error on all scripts that I attempt.

What is the best way to run these scripts and what are the gocha's?

Sounds like it's failing to mount system as RW... which requires root.

Just guessing.. but what happens if you run "su" before running the script?

File doesn't exist in \system\app directory. Drod mentioned he will look into scripting issues. I believe they are just old pointers when new file's/app's have different names.

Here is seph's patch for adding quickoffice back in:
http://www.sephtin.com/rubiX/UNOFFICIAL-rubixFocused-PATCH-QuickOffice.zip
Just install via bootstrap and should work.

Hm.. I should of added the hosts file by default, and seems I overlooked the actual file... The other scripts should work.. I'll check them out and see if I can't fix them.

Thanks, drod. Not critical, but I figured worth mentioning. Seems other scripts aren't working due to either missing apk or old file names. Will let you figure out what is wrong with 'em as it's beyond me :)
