rubiX Focused 1.9.5

Hey guys just started using 1.9.5 and it's been very stable and FAST so far! Thanks Drod! However, I just can't figure out why my MMS doesn't send. It can receive MMS (from other carriers at least) but it hangs during the sending process and never sends.

I searched for the problem in this thread but couldn't find anything close. Has anyone else been experiencing this or this is probably just me? I have tried clearing data and cache for the MMS application, and I have full 3g/1x signal. I guess I might have to start fresh with an SBF? I don't use Handcent but I do use 3D Gallery which is what I think the MMS get's pics from and sends it. Also, not sure if it matter, but I think the MMS app doesn't downsize pics properly to a much smaller size for sending, but that's just my guess.

My greatest suspicion is that I accidentally pressed "Fixed Permissions" on JRummy's Droid X overclock one time and that might be the culprit of the problem.

Thanks for any insights :)

Hey man I had the same problem when I switched back and forth between roms (..or it could have been a theme) ultimately I just wiped the data and cache reinstalled the rom..and tried the mms it was working so I am guessing something might have broke during the install.

On a second note...no point in trying other roms because this one is probably the best one out there! The best thing I like about this rom is that I can get around 16hrs of battery life under heavy use..mostly texting..compared to like 10 from others!

This ROM is absolutely incredible. Super fast, and very polished. I have tried a couple of other ROMS and this is by far the best.
Thank you for all your work. Donation is headed your way.

Steptin, I did.maps and still nothing... Everything else finds my location... Just not vz nagitator... I have really messed my phone up pretty bad a few times and brung it back eberytime... Im just lost on this.... And thank you for the link... Some good info and cool links... One last thing u may be able th o help me with.... Rom managet... I dont thonk im getting a full list of roms...

for people who have problems with the navigator, not sure if this will help or not, but it fixed my issue. go to your settings->location and security and make sure the "Use Wireless Networks" is checked, and then make sure to click Agree about google's location consent thing. After that, i went back to navigation and it worked fine, haven't had any troubles since

and btw, when my navigation wasnt working, my maps still did

Yep.. perfect.. I assume that will fix it!
I know one of the fixes for corrupt navigation is to clear data/cache for maps. :P
They're very closely tied...

Give that a shot, and let us know if that doesn't fix it!

ROM Manager:
ROM Manager pulls a list from a .xml file that it downloads. It shows whatever is available to your device. As long as you haven't changed the build.prop, then it's fine.

I guess the question is, why would you think it doesn't show a full list? The only way a ROM shows up in ROM Manager, is if a developer PUTS it there.. :P

I added Focused 1.9.5... so I know it's there.. but depending on ROM Manager for your ROMs is really a horrible way to go. You're MUCH better off actually reading the forum thread for the ROM you want to install, and following the instructions to install it!!!

ROM Manager isn't what it was for Orig. droid, or some other devices. Lots of ROMs aren't included in it.. better to manually install on the DroidX.

Are we still waiting for 1.9.7 or is Drod going to skip it in favor of 2.0?

Drod mentioned that he's waiting on a couple things yet for 1.9.7.. he mentioned something about it on twitter I think.

I know he's working on 2.0 as well.. just a matter of time.

Not sure exactly, but the place I'd start.. is I think that there are other services/apps involved in MMS as well, one of which probably needs a cache/data wipe to resolve (?). messaging, sync, media container/storage, etc. ??

You COULD try taking a nandroid, then just wiping /data/cache for the ROM, and see if that resolves it.. if it does, then it's def. one of the apps/services just bogged down.

Edit: hmm, afterthought.. you could even nandroid, then just wipe cache, test, and if not fixed then wipe data as well.. further narrow it down (?).
Thanks for comment Sephtin, I can definitely confirm that this is some data/cache issue. I fixed it initially by going to Dialer Storage 2.2 and clearing the data/cache for that under the apps. After sending an MMS that went through, I needed to recover a deleted MMS by using Titanium Backup to restore an older Dialer Storage 2.2 backup. I got all my old texts and MMS back but as I suspected it, couldn't send out MMS again. Turns out my Dialer Storage 2.2 was like over 5MB which I think is a lot so that might be where clearing the data/cache fixes things. The next time I tried clearing the Dialer Storage, it completely broke my 3g/1x connection... even dialing *228 wouldn't update the provisions. I did do a nandroid backup and that worked, but I didn't like having something old lol. In the end I just decided to start out fresh, SBF, and then reinstall everything since I have installed a lot of junk.

Thanks for the help! To be fair, I've been restoring up to 3 months of SMS and MMS within each testing of blurless ROMs :icon_eek:.

Do you know what the differences will be between the two?

Yes!

OH, 1.9.7 is based on updated 2.5 GummyJar framework (so themes from 2.5 are compat)...

And 2.0 is based on totally different framework. Complerely rebuilt from ground up.

1.9.7 is a few days off. I'm waiting on something special. Been working on 2.0 as well behind the scenes, which will be a whole nother level of a rom..

Sweet... Cant wait to get a chance to have a reason to play with my phone and go to 1.9.7... My wife hates me playing on it all the time... And I have tried everything mentioned for vz navigator but still no luck... Maps and evetything else shows my location just not vz.... Im lost

Also, as another fix, I just ran into the same Navigation problem where it would be stuck on "Checking Navigation Availability." but this was on a friend's phone, also on Rubik's 1.9.5 that I loaded on there. The fix I found to solve this was to open up Maps on its own, then put in an address to get directions to the place. It should show it on the maps, and press the menu button, and hit Get Directions. Then up in the top right the blue navigation arrow should be there, and press that. That will load up the navigation app, and will let you use it to get there. (or something like that, i dont remember perfectly) Then just exit out, and go back to the Navigation app. it should work fine from then on.

Hope that helps someone!
