SBF to root and to unroot
recap of the basics..

You have the latest rsd lite? (others have tried earlier version and had issues)

Regrab the sbf file. Do any sbf files work? You can always flash back to 2.01 then get sprecovery via other methods than rsdlite if sprecovery is the sbf file not working for you.

Have you been able to try RSD Lite from other computers? (if the same sbf file is failing on multiple computers, it becomes more likely there is an issue with the sbf file)
I do have the latest RSD Lite, I believe. "RSD lite vs. 4.6". I have also tried earlier versions that did not work.

I have tried re-downloading and using the sbf file. I have also tried using the 2.01 file from your page. I am getting the same result with everything I do. The files are sitting in the root of my C drive and I have also tried these files in my documents and downloads, but I could not even get RSD Lite to start when it came from there. (which is why I moved it to the C drive.

I have tried this on 2 different computers. One with Windows 7 and the other with Windows Vista. I am waiting for someone to come over who has a computer with Windows XP that I am going to test out.

just tried the unroot zip method from above. now my home button doesn't work and I can't access the market, it's not even on the phone anymore. Any help?
also, how do i get 2.1 now?

I can't get the phone to show up on rsd lite... I installed the drivers and everything mentioned above but still wont show. any suggestions?

You also tried changing your config deviceID options within RSD lite as suggested in one of the previous posts? You're in the recovery tool via up-arrow and reboot too? If nothing happens after all that you may need to try a different PC.

ok cant get the rsd lite to see my phone. im gonna try the other method with the update.zip. do i just rename the whole zipped folder to update.zip or i need to extract everything from the folder?

Rename the downloaded file to update.zip. Don't unzip anything.

Just to possibly help someone else having issues.

I had to name the file "update" only, if done correctly it will show as a package in Astro instead of a folder.

My phone also FC and reboots when accessing "Accounts and Sync" in settings.

ok got the sprecovery file installed. rebooted right all good. performed a simple nandroid went fine phone rebooted like it was before but I cant find the nandroid folder on sd card. even performed a search and nothing came up. Next is how do I install Froyo 2.2? or anyone have a better rom for moto droid?

ok error comes up when doing simple nandroid backup. "nandroid exited with status 31 attempting nandroid default backup" what is that mean?

Ok just to start yes I have done a lot of research and just not starting a new thread cause Im lazy. I rooted my phone yesterday and everything went pretty smooth. Did a simple nandroid backup too. Installed setcpu and both version of rom manager. Here is the problem. everythime I try to run clockworkmod manager I get this error "An error occured while attempting to run privileged commands" I did download a cyanogen rom but nothing. Can't reboot in recovery either.

When I go to setcpu in in read only mode and can't change anything. it says "no root access detected are application have permissions?"

Ans last, When I open superuser permissions, Screen is black and can't see nothing. is this normal?

Please help

Go to "rom manager" and select "fix permissions" at the bottom. That should solve your issues

Sorry tried that also. nothing. I cleared cache, uninstalled and re installed rom manager, rebooted and even performed a nandroid restore "Don't know if I did good or not here"
Also I did downloaded a rom yesterday and it download but it never installed. I even checked the box clear data and cache and the phone never cleared or rebooted in recovery mode.
