Seidio 2600mAh extended battery

Hey Windstrings,
I'm sure you mentioned this, but this thread has gotten so long I can't remember.... on average how long does it take for your droid to reach the 5% mark the first time after coming off the charger? and what is your average estimated time initially?

Mine died last night after about 12 hrs of being off the charger. Not great time yet. Hopefully it will improve. I did have the screen on a lot though. When I listen to music or podcasts in my car when I drive I like to have the screen on, so I just made the timeout 30mins. Normally I plug it in when I drive so the screen stays on and it doesn't kill the battery. So this may have affected my run time.

This morning (about 30 mins after I took the phone off the charger, since I forgot to look again when I woke up. I'm so not a morning person!) my readings were as follows

3/12/10 8:50am
BAtteryLeft: 1:34 hrs left / 55% / 4061mv
system: 70%

and currently:

3/12/10
BatteryLeft: 43 mins left / 21% /3996mv
System: 30%

Well I've been off the charger since 8 AM yesterday. it's now 1:32 so 29 1/2 hrs. I'm at 3760 mV. Time left in BLW :20 est % 1% System % 5% full battery life 29:50

that sounds pretty dang good to me. I wish I had that! Was it like that from the start or did it take some days to get to the point where you got that many hours?

I've had the battery for almost a week. This is only the 2nd time I've let it run down to empty. Mostly I charge it every night. last time it ran to empty I got about the time. I'm still hoping for the 60 or 70 hrs windstrings gets :)

I can't remember this either, and I'm sure it may very well be in the thread somewhere. What is the maximum mV for the 2600mAh battery? Using Battery Left as a gauge, how do you know when it is "really" fully charged? I think I remember mine creeping up to 4160mV and that was after the phone reported itself as charged. Does the maximum mV change? I wouldn't think so, but I'm in over my head here!

'2 PM and it's still going. just dropped into calibrating mode at 3755mV but keeps fluctuating to 3737mV and then back to 3755 estimated and system % @ 5%

Surely between Seidio, Motorola, Battery Left app and the readers of this forum (and maybe Root Your Droid too) we can come up with an easy way to measure the extended battery's life!

Thats a question I need to ask... I wonder if:
A..... Do people have the same issue with the stock battery as far as rebooting and it showing a higher reading?
B.... Is the problem corrected with the leaked 2.1 rooted update thats floating around?

As for A, surely not. I mean, if the phone can't even read the stock battery correctly...? I mean, phones have been doing this for years, right? Then again, I guess it's possible. I've still got a stock battery and could give it a go...
As for B, I ... don't know. I'd experienced this issue with the battery before stumbling on directions to root my Droid and was actually hoping there would be some kind of hacked solution, or firmware update, available if I rooted my Droid. But, I haven't found one yet. I heard the 2.1 update does not correct this, but can't remember where I heard that and certainly isn't the official word.

I don't remember seeing a higher reading after a reboot with the stock battery. If I did, it was minimal, surely not like it is with the extended where it goes from 5% to 70%

The mv reading during a charge it not real helpful. Battery temp etc will make a difference.
When you immediately take it off the charger, you should be about 4180 or so.... 4165 may be ok if your battery is cold "70 degrees etc".

I only got close to 80 hours from very light use as stated before... once you get that long you have 3 beddy by times involved instead of two.... so more standby hours the battery gets to rest while time is clicking away..... in other words.. that makes it look better than it really is.

I don't recommend trying to compare your use with me or anybody else too much because we all use different apps and are so variable on how we use our phones.... especially over that time period the variabilites increase exponentially!

I would just suffice to say that after a few cycles, Seidio states the battery needs some good healthy charges..... (IE: 3 or so hours longer than when it says full.... remember its not really charges will the resting voltage without a charge is above 4180mv or so) and after a few cycles most of the cells will be pretty equalized and you can use as normal and not worry about discharging all the way as Lithium does not need that once broke in.

Oh yea... Suffice to say..... it should pretty close to twice the time of your normal use!
Keep in mind it may appear your getting "more" than twice the time because you enter a new sleep cycle of when you go to bed and the phone gets to rest while time clicks away.

I know some folks compare the price to buying a second stock battery and if you don't use a case and don't mind keeping up with the extra battery and another 35.00 bucks or so on a 600.00 phone is an issue, then I would recommend just buying a second OEM battery.

Otherwise.. I like never having to pull my battery.
Since it last so long, I never need to use my link usb cable either as the little app called "websharing" does an awesome job of making your computer one with your droid for file sharing via wifi.

Plus at night "I don't have a dock" with the extended battery, I can just rest my phone on its edge and I mute my phone.... any new text or emails come in I will see the led flashing and I don't wake up my wife.

You know, since I started using the extended battery, at least half of the time I reboot now, any widgets I have faile to load or hang. Sometimes I have to reboot, sometimes I can wait it out. It takes about a min or less, but its not resonsive during that time. I could be something else all together and be a coincidence, but I haven't switched back to my stock batt to test it Anyone else notice anything like this?

Can't imagine widgets loading would be related to the battery......

if it fits in their case for the droid, perhaps i will be interested.

if it does not, most likely no.

Hello Jay,

Thank you for your interest in our products! We will be two different kinds of batteries -- Slim Extended that fit in the original battery compartment and offers more power than the OEM one, or Extended that requires a separate battery door (included) that will give you nearly double the capacity.

The Slim Extended will fit our current Innocase, and we are currently developing a Innocase Surface Extended that will fit the Extended Battery.

Please stay tuned or check our site for latest updates!

i am kind of warry of using aftermarket batteries ... but this slim extended is pretty enticing ...

does Seidio do extensive testing with the phone and different chargers ? it wouldn't look too good if the battery exploded or overheated ...
