SUPER UPSET about this 2.2 crap

The update will be here when it's here...and all the moaning about it here isn't going to speed it up at all. I'm in no hurry, I'm convinced I've still got the best phone I could find.

I just got off the phone with a verizon tech rep to ask when it was coming and she told me thats its all ready out (much to my surprise) and that it should have been pushed to my phone way before now and that since it has not been pushed i should go into a verizon store to see if they could manually push it, because appearently the update feature is not the same and will not trigger a push. ill be heading into a verizon store later today to see if this is true or not and ill post the results. i encourage others to call as well and see if they get the same result. the number i called was Customer Service: (800) 922-0204 Monday-Sunday 6am-11pm then i went to tech support which is option 3 and from there to a live representative

I wouldn't believe anybody at a Verizon store. They know as much or less than anybody on these boards. No update yet. And I do not expect one for at least 1 more month. I have lost complete faith in anything Verizon or Motorola ever says. Maybe by Halloween we might see something. Maybe.

Cool, a vent thread:)

I'm the type of person who tries to fix things, but the op removed the solution from the equation. Nothing we can fix here. Calling Verizon Tech Support and flooding their phone lines will not make this release come out any faster. Nobody is holding 2.2 just to tick folks off.

It just isn't ready for the DX for one reason or another. We've gone through this with releases for other phones too.
Yes, it should be on the phone by now.
Yes, someone probably screwed something up, hence the delay.
Yes, we'll all be reading similar threads for 2.3 ;)

Historically these things happen therefore it should be expected it will happen in the future too. The only guarenteed way to get Adobe Flash, Volume Fixes, Increased Battery life through an enhanced OS is to purchase a phone that already has Android 2.2 installed on it.

I got my D1 last November. Flash was going to be released first quarter of 2010. Hopefully DX owners won't have to wait as long as I did to get Flash.

They know less then we do.

I haven't heard a thing about the X getting 2.2 in so long, outside of someone saying my Uncle Vinnie works at a Verizon Store type comment. I can say that I expected it to be here by now. I have no idea what the delay is.

In the meantime for those who just can't wait there is a leak that has been released in the Market. It's called team black hat and it cost 2.00. If anyone is interested.

I just mention it because I know it's there. I'm not part of the team and I get nothing by mentioning it. I don't have an X so I haven't tried it.

I didn't know my little rant would turn into 12 pages! Holy cow!

So...when we actually do get 2.2 what major improvements will I actually notice right away? (I run LP + by the way.)

That's ok...can you link us up to one on Moto's site?

Droid X Froyo veiled in Moto Secrecy

That thread touches on a lot of things from performance, to new bugs in 2.2, to a lot of whining about the wait for the OTA update. Some of it is a good read with informative information and other parts of it are just hard on the eyes (read: brick walls made of text) and equally as hard to understand.

I've been following it, but I never post on the moto forums. The reason is that I see no need to give them my MEID/Phone number just to post on their forums.

Thanks...I am going to check it out.

If this release is anything like the one that came a few weeks ago from my Droid 1 my fiance has...Ill pass, and keep the 2.1. That OTA update and those that followed it ruined the droid,we now are waiting for a replacement phone due to the updates, freezing or bricking as you call it...the phone...what a pain its been....4 OTA system updates in 3 weeks, and the only one that went thru smooth was the first one to 2.2. the adobe ones locked the phone twice, last time it locked for an hour overheated, while on the phone with tech...tech guys say do not pull battery. It died right after he said that during the OTA update...BTW update started with 70% charge on battery...Hopefully this phone will be ok.
When the OTA 2.2 comes for my X,if there is any way I can...im denying it.....for now...

ok heres what i've learned.
1. Verizon confirms that the push is and has been in affect for sometime but moto it pushing it to 1500-2000 phones at a time where as there are several million Xs out there.

2. There are indeed verizon stores where the can do a manual push, but i was unable to find out which these are

3. the "check for system updates" option does not check for the push, you will be notified by moto "when your time has come"

i apologize for not having good news if something changes i will update you
