Swype Android Beta!!

I'm posting this from the leaked version. I might be paranoid but this beta version seems like a good way to "clean up" any leaked versions still out there. I'd like to get the new version but don't want to be left with nothing when the official beta expires and I think swype has made it pretty clear that they aren't going to release this to consumers. I think I'm going to hold on to the leaked swype until we learn more or someone figures out how to get back to the old version.

Just FYI my sister woke up and got a notification that hers expired then called me frantic. so it will eventually expire. they're saying there's only a limited number of this new beta available.....up to ya...

personally i would have serious problems without swype lol

You can keep the leaked version as an uninstalled APK and still use this.

However my wife's droid's leaked version expired and had it not been for this forum she wouldn't have it at all.

If I were you I'd get into the beta while you can.

I would have a problem without swype as well, which is why I hesitate to switch to the beta that we know is time limited. I'm not sure why my leaked swype is still working and your sisters is not. I did sign up for the beta but haven't installed it yet. I'm hoping this will hold me a spot, but for how long who knows.

I'm still undecided on what to do. Just wish swype would put up a market version or let us keep the beta. If they are only selling to OEM manufacturers then letting us keep the beta would cost them anything.

It may be coincidence but it seemed like the leaked versions were expiring only after installing the beta.

Me too. At least I can get it to work if I jump through some hoops. I wonder if it phones home from time to time. That would make me think the leaked version was perhaps let loose, vs leaked:)

I may go back to stock, get it installed correctly, then re-apply the rom I'm on. Or...Swype should just release it in the market now. What was "leaked" worked just fine for me for the past couple of months. If they want $ I've got some:)

just installed the beta. i was reading this thread when a buddy sent me a txt. when i tried to respond i got the swype expiration pop up. everything is good so far with no issues. not sure if this matters but i disables the leaked version before uninstalling it. after i uninstalled it i removed the leaked apk file from the sd card.

I installed the beta and am already hooked. It makes the portrait keyboard fast and functional. This is quickly becoming my favorite app. Thanks for letting the community know about this! I have never texted so fast and accurately, especially with one finger. What a great app.

Its simple to "fix" this with a simple task kill but its annoying to do it after each reboot. I really hope swype fixes this or someone can somehow a apply a patch to the beta.

when i install swype beta it works fine, however when i restart my phone, i get a pop up saying Swype is configured for another device and will have limited functionality, anyone else having this problem when they restart? any way to fix this or do i just have to keep my phone on

this just happened to me after i rebooted. what i did was switch back to the android keyboard then back to swype.

or you could just go into the applications manager and forceclose swype and the swype installer. Should work after that.

That would have taken to long. Lol

For what it's worth, my leaked version expired before I even knew about the beta. I got the message and logged on to see what was happening... so for the few of you who have leaked versions that have not expired, I wonder if the phone's date settings are correct or something... you may have a goldmine if we're all scrambling around looking to install something that doesn't exist someday when the current beta expires (if they don't offer this on the market, which is a point of debate here.)
