how do you uninstall the previous version of swype?

Go to your phone settings then Applications> Manage Applications > Then find Swype and Delete

The leaked installer is on your SD card so you should delete that as well.

I didn't delete it. Mainly because I had already tried to install over the previous version and I wasn't sure if I was seeing the installer from the previous version of the installer I had just downloaded. In any event, once I uninstalled the old version of Swype the new one installed perfectly. Worth noting, I suppose that there were (at least) two "leaked" versions. I was running the one that came out a couple of months ago. Things may be different for the hacked (smaller) version that was discussed a few days ago.

They are smart to do this before they loose all market share to slideIt and shapewritter. I like swype much better and am glad they made this move.

I can't find it on my sd card. I tried using astro to uninstall it or delete it but it won't let me.

Have this for both my wife's and I droid. Though when she gets home from work I will need to install it on her droid. Overall I like the changes with the Beta.

Swyping is not working for me. I can type on it, see the trail whwn i type, but no letters appear or word suggestion popup. Stock droid.

Edit: reboot solved the problem.

I had the leaked version, deleted it (I think), installed the beta version. It looks the same as the leaked version as far as I can tell.
The version on mine is 0.35.3959 I don't know if this is the leaked or beta.

You must still have the leaked version installed. I'm on the new beta and it's version 1.25.16.5612.t100.

Odd, I noticed a lot of difference between the old unoffical beta and the new official beta

The Official Beta is Version 1.25.16.5612.r100

I'm using the latest SmokedGlass ROM and it won't let me delete the old "leaked" Swype in it. I can't install the beta version. I tried uninstalling from Applications and checking my SD card for the apk (there was none in my SD card). I tried to install over it also, but nothing happens. I'm still stuck with the "leaked" version that came with SmokedGlass ROM.

Not going to lie this is a little stupid, first you register and then you download the "installer" then you login then you download........

Maybe just post the apk???? Seriously.....

Swype wants a record of those beta testing the software.

Did that, unistalled the leaked Swype and downloaded the installer. Then I get a Parsec error and when I try from Astro, it says it can't open it. What should I be doing?

Ok guys here's some tips I found. If you can't "swype" (like it won't let you swype, but it'll input taps fine) after installing it try rebooting. That fixed my problems.

Also READ the tips page. Windows that I thought were removed were just hiding, e.g., the "editing pane" is now invoked by swyping the "swype i" icon to the "SYM" icon.

Also it's telling me that I'm suppose to be able to get the word suggestion window if I double tap a word. Am I reading this correctly, because I can't get it to work. I still have to press the swype icon to get the window to pop up.
