[ROM] The CM7 Gingerbread ROM (CM4D2-GB) is now ready for prime time!

To flash this ROM you MUST be on a Gingerbread-based ROM first (stock or custom).

If you're on a Gingerbread ROM already: Boot into Clockwork Recovery, wipe data/factory reset and flash CM4D2-GB and Gapps (goo-inside.me - gapps downloads) and boot up and set up your phone.

If you're on a Froyo-based ROM: Upgrade to Gingerbread and then wipe and flash the most recent build of CM4D2-GB and Gapps. If you own the Team Black Hat app, they have a rooted Gingerbread zip you can flash from Clockwork Recovery to upgrade to rooted Gingerbread - easy-peasy. If you don't have the TBH app, you can get instructions and download/flash the rooted GB SBF here (start w/the second set of numbered 1-4 instructions): Droid 2 Gingerbread (2.3.3) - Release - PreRooted.

D2 Bootstrap links (to load/launch Clockwork Recovery if you have to SBF to Gingerbread before you install CM74D2-GB). Don't use D2 Bootstrap after installing CM74D2-GB or you'll boot loop and have to go back to GB SBF:

koush's droid2 bootstrap
koush dl: My Brain Hurts: Droid X Recovery (and Droid 2 too!)
- I've discovered the download link for D2 Boostrapper is no longer working...until an alternative is found the only source would be the Android Market.

To summarize - install steps to start as fresh/clean as possible:

- SBF to Froyo 2.3.20 & reboot (if you boot loop go into stock recovery - boot up holding X key, then hit Search button to enter recovery menu - and wipe data/factory reset)
- Root/bootstrap & boot into recovery (Froyo root is easiest via Z4Root app, Bootstrap link above)
- Wipe data/factory reset
- Either SBF or use the the TBH GB zip file in Clockwork Recovery to get to rooted Gingberbread (NOTE: If you use the TBH GB Zip file, boot up after applying the GB zip before applying the CM4D2-GB ROM, don't do them both in one CW session.)
- Boot/activate baseband
- Install D2 Bootstrapper again and boot into recovery
- Wipe data/factory reset
- Install current build of CM4D2-GB from dev thread
- Install most recent Gapps (link above)
- Reboot

Which is it? Do I have to SBF back to Froyo to install CM7, or can I just install it from my current Blackhat Monster Gingerbread leak?

If you install the official version, you need to sbf. If you install the one from Revnumbers (his site is currently down), you can install over GB. I recommend waiting for the Revnumbers one. Its really nice.

Absolutely loving this rom. It's fantastic. But for the love of GOD how do you disable car home? Every time I put my phone in my case it activates and my battery is getting destroyed. I removed it manually and now I just get a prompt everytime that asks me what I want to do when the magnet gets hit. But it still lights the screen and it's super frustrating.

Is there a way to have it simply do nothing when the magnet hits? I dont have this problem with other roms. Yes I have tried all the dock apps and things on the market and they stop the dock from opening but it still lights up and runs the phone for 30 seconds.

I finally got out of Bootloader hell. Thanks for all the advice, you guys are awesome!!
I'm kinda pissed that I can't pinpoint the problem. I had tried it several times with both ezSBF & RSDlite on my work PC & laptop....nada. I came home and used ezSBF on my desktop. It worked the first time. Wish you could have seen the smile on my face when I saw that Motorola logo.

First, congrats!

Second, never, ever sell that computer at home. ;-)

I'm familiar with the feeling of relief you had, must have been sweet!

Ya never know. I would wait for official word on root. It will probably only take a couple hours if one of the existing methods works.
