[ROM] The CM7 Gingerbread ROM (CM4D2-GB) is now ready for prime time!

ok so i am looking to jump from Apex to CM7. originally apex was kicking ass in the battery department. how is this latest CM7 release in the battery department? i see a lot of names dropped for battery management and memory management. what are people using to improve battery and phone performance even further?

Juice Defender and undervolting using Jakebitesmod has been working pretty well for me. Juice Defender alone is an awesome app for battery saving.

GB OTA installing now! yippeeeee! the OP of this thread said to install the link to CM7 in the OP of the dev thread. jakesmod sounds like it's real optimized though. should i go with that?

Yes, Jakes mods are on point. It's all you'll need.

My experience with CWR is that you should wipe everything always (cache, dalvik cache and data before flash and after flash; I'm also paranoid about making sure that system and data are "mounted" (i.e. shows up as "unmount" but I don't know if that really makes a diff. in avoiding bootloops)).

I do the same thing. Although I don't always wipe after flash. I've never (knock on wood) experienced a bootloop.

I am a huge advocate of mounting system.

For jakes mod, just install in cw (no wipe)

Have you seen any negative side effects from not mounting system? I never do, but I'll start just to be safe if it makes that big of a difference.

mounting system? i'm confused.

Go to mounts and storage in Clockwork Recovery and it at the top, it will either say mount system if it isn't mounted or unmount system if its already mounted.

Most ROMs are automatically programmed to mount the system for you, but some of them are not. For example, the TBH All In One install packages have to have the system formatted and mounted manually.

aight cool.
so after OTA, wipe and flash CM7. reboot. no wipe but flash jake mods. reboot... DONE?

install juice defender.
is setting up undervolting difficult?

how about that v6 supercharger stuff. sounded like it really helps with memory management. is that set up in jakes mods or do i have to do that as well?

Undervolting is easy as pie! (if you're good at baking that is...) anyway....after flashing jakebitesmod, open up terminal emulator and get to the su prompt. Then type in modcentral and hit enter. There will be a list of all of the available options. I'm using the V6 supercharger script and my phone is flying by the way. I highly recommend it. Happy flashing!:icon_ banana:
