[ROM] The CM7 Gingerbread ROM (CM4D2-GB) is now ready for prime time!

I was on 8-30 on while still on the gb leak. The ota was out on 9/1 right? So I assumed we all had to sbf to get the ota and then flash the build that came out on 9/2. Plus you needed to be on the ota to flash jakes new mod. I just assumed we all had to sbf to get on the ota anyway (right when the 9/2 build came out)

CM7GB-601

Not sure but I sbf'd and when I got to the update and rooted I flashed what was available at the time, being the latest nightly at the time (8/30) so then when the new one came out, I flashed over the prior nightly:-) speeds aren't so different but I love cm7s theme chooser and decent speeds, and most of all OPEN SOURCE! Not to mention constant work thanks to cyanogen and rev too!!

I'm in Terminal Emulator and got into Modcentral...here's the problem, I try to select a number from the list, but the keymapping is off on the hardware keyboard, and I'm getting the symbols from the keys in the second row rather than the numbers from the keys in the first row. Is there a known fix for this?

EDIT: Example, I try to press number 1 and I get ! instead from the Q key.

I just use the soft keyboard.

What theme are you rocking? I'm running steel blue with matching dockbar and gregtards blue gb keyboard.

Right now I'm on red passion..lovein it...I used and still use steel blue a lot! One of my first cm7 themes..you gotta use the mm theme for steel blue to as it really works with the lockscreen and animations in status bar...awesome!

Crap, what da? So I will get better speed if I would've sbf'd before updating to the 8/30 because it was a slow bitc^ so...its better now but dang, hate to do all that again..lol maybe after I get the newer build, before flashing, I will sbf, my speeds aren't the best at the moment....

No - there's no reason to SBF between 8/30 and 9/2, or any other nightly that RevNumbers provides in the dev thread.

The only time you have to SBF is when you initially update to the GB OTA...you SBF to Froyo stock, then you apply the GB OTA, and then the latest nightly and Gapps...very simple. Any of the builds on the CM7GB dev thread ([DEV_THREAD]Droid 2 CM7 with Gingerbread Leak Kernel) can be applied w/out SBF once you're on GB leak or GB OTA, but of course we want everyone to upgrade to the GB OTA.

And the best theme by far, and this is so obvious I should have to say it, is the one I use - Vivid (in the Market). ;-)

It is sooooooooooooooo pretty. :D

anyone have any idea why i am getting a Verification Failure when trying to update from the CM7.zip file from 9-02?

Check MD5, you may have a bad download..I've flashed it multiple times w/out issue. You are using CWR to flash it, not stock recovery (sorry - have to ask the obvious question just in case).

hmmm... how to enter clockwork at boot? i installed the Moto one click root. then bootstrap and hit Bootstrap Recovery. Rebooted and held X and Power. says Android System Recovery <3e>

In my business its the very first thing I do before any other step...

I've finally gotten my family trained...I won't talk to them about PC issues until they have power cycled the PC, and about network issues until they have done that and power cycled the cable modem and router. Those magical actions fix 90% of their issues. :)

Launch recovery from bootstrap app...second button in the app below the boostrap button. :) That will boot you into CW Recovery. Don't hold x/power or anything, just hit the button in boostrap app and let it reboot the phone.

Of course, after CM7 is installed, don't use Bootstrap any more - launch recovery from either ROM Manager, or from the power button menu.

So is there a difference between just updating to the 9/3 update or do I really need to sbf and get the ota. I'm already loaded the update and haven't had any issuses just wondering if I really need to get the ota.

Up to you - if you want to you can stay on the GB leak...older kernel and older Baseband/radio. You won't have any issues staying w/the GB leak, but my expectation is that you're likely to have better overall results w/your phone if you upgrade to the GB OTA. It costs a lot of money to code/test/release updates, and presumably Moto/VZW wouldn't have kept working on the kernel and baseband, etc., for the GB OTA if they didn't believe it was worth their time/money.
