CM7 does not change the kernel. The bootloader on Droid2 is locked so you can't change the kernel without a factory update such as the GB OTA. CM7GB's latest nightly should not affect your phone calls.

Also, @XanRules ldopa beat me to it, same idea. Yes, that link or the one I posted are the same root method.

Woah, wait. Do this:
Sbf
Install the ota
Root with the d3 one click root (z4 won't work)
Then bootstrap to get into cw
Then wipe everything and install cm7 9-2 build and gapps and Jake's mod v5
Reboot.
Any other way will screw you

That. Looks. Terrifying. Is it just something you install and it does the work for you? I want no business with the terminal emulator.

Terminal is easy, I promise. Dl his mod. Boot into recovery and install it (no wipe). Then reboot. Go into terminal (make the font bigger if you want) and type su and hit enter. It will ask for su permission. Accept. Now you'll see a # sign. Now type modcentral and hit enter. Then follow the directions that appear. Jake made it very easy to use don't worry.

So you rooted the ota with the d3 one click right? Then bootstraped into cw. Wipe everything. Mount system and install cm7. That's it. Make sure the dl is from revs rootzwiki thread. Then gapps right after before rebooting.
