[ROM] The CM7 Gingerbread ROM (CM4D2-GB) is now ready for prime time!

Sorry I am so far behind, I have been in AK for a couple weeks! Once on stock Froyo, what is the procedure for flashing the new OTA?

Once on bone stock 2.2, go to about phone and check updates. Dl the ota and install

Once on the ota, use the d3 one click pc method to root it (it may take more than once so don't worry). Once rooted, d2 bootstrap into cwr. Wipe data, cache and dalvik. Mount system (just do it). Install cm7 gb 9-2 build and gapps 8/28. Reboot. Then if you want (you definitely should) flash jakes mod (v7 will be out shortly)

Or see the OP - link to the update is there in the install instructions - rename to update.zip and isntall from Froyo stock recovery. I'd recommend folks download the file just to have it in case future SBF/re-updates are required, makes it very quick and easy to not have to download the update from Verizon.

I tried this, and followed the following steps:

SBF'ed back to stock froyo
Downloaded update OTA
Installed GB update
Followed the Droid 3 root method
Installed D2 bootstrapper
Booted into recovery
Wiped data
Wiped cache
Installed CM7 Gingerbread

It booted fine! I then tried to install D2 bootstrapper apk, which also installed fine...Then I rebooted into recovery, and it got stuck at the red M logo. I had to put phone in bootloader mode and SBF to froyo again. :(

DO NOT USE D2 BOOTSTRAP ON CM7! That is rule number one. It will cause you to bootloop. You'll probably have to give it another go now. Once on cm7, use the power button to reboot into recovery or use rom manager. Don't install bootstrap. It's useless on cm7

Cool, thanks! I think I have figured out how to do this whole thing on Mac, I'm gonna give it a whirl. (The link posted earlier highlights a method to 'one click root' on Mac OSX)

From what I understand of this thread and the CM7 install process, you DO NOT reinstall bootstrap after you have CM7 installed. To get into clockwork recovery you just need to hold power down and select Reboot which will then prompt you with options for Rebooting, one of which is Recovery, thats the one you want.
