The "Got my D3"/ first impressions thread

I agree with you for the most part there.

But isn't it Microsoft that's making all the money off of Android? I think they are the ones (as well as Oracle) that are pursuing royalties off of manufacturers that are using Android OS.

Apple, on the other hand, is battling it out with Samsung over Samsung trying to make their products look like Apple's. Undoubtedly, that is the effect that Samsung is trying to achieve.

Really, all these tech companies are all suing each other. It must be insanely frustrating to be a part of any of that mess, but I guess it's inevitable with current laws.

Either way, I hate apple. They are profiting off android because they are (excuse my language) b****es. They think they own everything. Who gives a crap if samsung tries to make their devices look like apple's? TVs pretty much all look the same, but does anyone care enough to do lawsuits? No! And apple wont even enable flash player...

Well, Apple does make some sense in the last part.. they've stated, why add flash and slow down web browsing when it's not even complete?

That's understandable in some ways. But at the same time, it's not THAT bad and has gotten a lot better, especially on 4G. To me it's a great add-on to what you can already do. I don't wanna go on a webpage and be missing stuff. I can watch full episodes online with flash on my DROID without any lag 9times out of 10. So.. never mind I guess, it is dumb they don't add it.

I think they are taking the strategy that, if Apple refuses to support Flash, it will help force the demise of Flash altogether. They may be right.

Don't get me wrong here, I'm not in love with Apple, and I hate some of the thing they do, but I'm willing to acknowledge the good things they do as well.

I really wish that Motorola would do as Apple did, and not let VZW put any bloat on their phones. That was an awesome move, and almost got me to buy an iphone.

Disallowing Flash makes absolutely no sense and therefore is probably someone's (Jobs') ego at work. Every empire is born complete with the seeds of its own destruction.

Yeah.. but all smartphones (I'm not sure about Windows phones, haven't really followed those, correct me if I'm wrong) besides Apple really are allowing flash. And to me, it's only going to better with time. So Apple is at loss in that department if that is the case. But who knows, you, and they, could be right in the long run. I just don't see how it will fail unless flash completely dies out and something else starts running most of the video software and stuff out there.

You may be right, I may be wrong... time will tell.

I must say, I find myself annoyed with Flash frequently. On my PC, and on my phone. It's just buggy, and bogs everything down. It seems to me that there could be a better solution for the things that Flash handles, and maybe that's what Apple is pushing towards.

Or maybe jobs is just being a d**k... lol. It seems like I remember him having some kind of beef with the guy that's in charge of Adobe.

He may be right still. I thought I remembered some site quoting Job's on stating he's not using flash because of all of the bugs, and instead is going to wait on some better program that won't slow anything down. Because hate Apple or love it.. their device is pretty damn solid when it comes to having no bugs like Androids tend to have.

x2... that's what I like about Apple the most. Their products simply... work. And their stock simply... grows. That's why my money is with them.

Gotta say, I can't stand OSx though... maybe I'm just addcited to Windows... lol.

Haha, yeah, I can completely agree with you on both parts on that post lol.

And to add to the vanilla android list, the Sony Xperia Play was an awesome phone, but i did find plain ole android a tad boring. But i must say if im going to have an android phone it is gonna have to be in the "Droid" lineup. Now dont get me wrong, i love my iMac and the iPhone is perfect for syncing right along with it but i just get bored of the same ol same ol..if i can find a way to transfer my whole iTunes library to something that i can use on the Droid i will be in heaver and never need an iPhone again.

In my honest opinion, if you wanted an android that worked out of the box, the D1 or any Nexus would probably be the way to go...
I mean, I've never had a problem on my D1, like random reboots or freezing. Ever, before and after rooting/roms. It's probably just a result of the skins and ui's that we see so many problems. If the D3 had aosp 2.3.4, it probably wouldn't have any problems like reboots and such...

Same here. Whenever people talk about Android being "buggy" or "incomplete" compared to Apple, I scratch my head because I've never dealt with any of that stuff. So it must be because my D1 was stock Google and almost all other phones have some type of skin or overlay causing issues.

That actually could be the case. Because I say that due to my experiences with my old DROID. But now with the Droid 3, I'm seeing no problems.

How did this turn into everything that is not related to the thread. Sorry. But I want to know about the phone. And I love blur. Non rooted DROID x and proud.

i'm actually a little upset about the ram. there were rumors it was going to have a gig. i'll see how i like the phone but i may switch to the bionic and give this to my fiance if she likes it.

i keep refreshing fedex's tracking page to see when it gets delivered so i can take my lunch and pick it up haha.

Bionic is also only 512 MB of ram breh.

2.5 days later and the phone is still fast and responsive without a hitch. running launcher pro of course. i really dislike this motoblur. unlocking with a pattern still requires me to "slide to unlock" ? sigh.. battery life is better than og droid @ 800mhz
