The Official DF Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release Thread

So I just saw that the Galaxy Note just pushed through the FCC for AT&T.... brb, going to go price out some individual and family plans on at&t while I'm waiting for Verizon to announce something about the G-Nex...

Yes, It doesn't seem like AT&T has any problems releasing phones. Their network may not be as far along as Verizon's but at least it works.

I think it could be very possible that the Galaxy Nexus could launch on AT&T before it does on Verizon. While Verizon may have had an exclusive for a while I bet it is soon to lapse. Verizon does not seem to have the network ability to handle their phones.

And if it's network related why not halt the sales of the Razr? No problem selling those today while they have network issues...

I have a feeling has more to do with what Google and Samsung want the phone to be/have and what Verizon does not want the phone to be/have.

Shouldn't the consumers have some say in which phones succeed or fail? (RAZR, Rezound, Nexus) It's the buyers choice to educate themselves and obviously all of us on this forum know something (not sure what or how much) about Verizon, Android, RAZR, Rezound and Nexus and have made a decision of what to buy. I realize that most Joe's will just go to the store and be sold on what they have there, but there are still plenty of people who hold out and that just costs Verizon more money in Q4 2011.

Consumers ultimately always have the final say in which products succeed or fail as they are the purchasers. If a product get enough bad press because it was introduced with major functionality problems, it will get a poor reputation and ultimately fail. Companies have the responsibility to make sure that what product they provide, is functional and useful for the majority of users. If a product has a problem that makes it non-usable for the majority of users, then class action lawsuits follow. It cost the company huge amounts of money to defend against those and they also lose credibility with the customer. Sorry, but that's the way it is.

The equipment guide has been updated since yesterday and the 12/9 release date has been removed and replaced with "launch date is coming soon". Spoke with our inventory guy and he said the phone had been pushed back to the 15th. Nothing to back that date up though. Dont mean to rain on parades..just passing along info. Trust me I want it too. Again the 15th was just something said by word of mouth but the 12/9 release date has officially been removed.

EDIT: sorry I think someone already posted this on Droid Life. Didnt mean to jump the gun. I just got to work and logged in and saw that it had changed.

I tend to not believe these leaks but at this point I am really wondering if Verizon wants this phone to fail on purpose. "You won't let us completely fill this thing with bloatware, we will screw you with a silent release and pushed back release dates"

I have to respectfully disagree with that statement. I think those are real issues, but I think they have been worked out long before now. This phone is too close to launch to still be dealing with those things. I think it has to due with phone or network functionality. ICS being brand new to phones, may not play nice with their 4G network. Of course, that's just one theory...take it for what it's worth.

Or it could be that the LTE network really is completely flawed and is messing with every phone so far that uses it. People make fun of the iPhone for not being 4g, but maybe Apple was on to something we all don't want to believe.

I could see where that may be true. I guess one of the main thing that sticks out in my mind is the recent back and forth about the Google Wallet app... but I guess we could just now be hearing about it because testers or who ever are just now discovering that the app is not present on their test devices. I have seen some speculation that the entire thing was started by a single Google rep just to put some public pressure on Verizon.

You think this is Google's fault? No, no my friend, it is Verizon who has completely botched the launch of this device. Verizon sucks now, just as it did before, and they will continue to suck for years.

Has to be google cause when apple gives a date then that's the date even with Verizon

I think it's nothing works with their network because the network sucks.

I would be happy if they would just silently allow us mad freaks to order the phone by calling customer support. They could allow us to take responsibly to not complain while they work out kinks. Then release the phone officially whenever they want. If they are having network issues they should halt the release of all phones.... or shut up and release the Nexus already.

Me personally I am tired of the rumors. I have waited for this moment since I started the bloatware petition against motorola and vzw. I did not come this far to lose hope or let vzw force their bloat filled phones into my hands. So this is what I am going to do. Tomorrow in the AM (right when vzw opens) Ima walk in, drop my card down, and ask for my phone, if they say they dont have it Ima take my money over to best buy and ask if they have it. Ima repeat the sequence each day. Eventually I will have my phone in my hands.

Wtf are you guys doing to me. This is such an emotional roller coaster. I wake up all happy and now I'm all upset again. I can't say I've read all these past pages but I did see the DL article and I'm kinda clueless what to think if its true. What I can say at the moment is the ignoring and silent nature at Vz needs to stop. At this point it is no longer to keep the product under wraps or anything (the cats of of the bag). If their is an issue it would be better to let the worried/confused customers know what's happening. Let's your customers literally relax and also tells the customer you care about them and arnt just trying to sell them stuff. If their is a huge fan base around a product you want them as informed as possible, they are the ones that are going to spread the word. At the moment I don't feel like Vz even values my service which 5 lines is over a thound easy every year. That's not what I should be thinking. We should be getting some info instead of a brick wall.... IMO, what do I know though, I'm just supposed to be uninformed and go buy a razr. Baaahumbug. Scrooge has come out.

Sent from a bubble gum factory because im all out of gum.

This may be more effective if instead of dropping your card down, go withdraw the amount in cash, but all in 1's... except for a single 20 on top so it looks like a big stack of 20's - this will give you the most visual impact for your money (literally hahaha).

*sigh* its always next week. This week its next week, last week its this week, before that it was last week, week before that it was the week before last week.
