The Official DF Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release Thread

I have a feeling that when the GN is released we won't have many problems getting them.

In my area there is a strip mall with at least 4 places that sell verizon phones. I went into a store the day of the RAZR release not knowing that it was the release day, the sales people were hyping it up saying that they had already sold 4, I was in there pretty late in the day.

In this economy I can imagine there are too many people besides us that are eager to shell out $300 for a new phone, unless it has a picture of half eaten fruit on it.

who's dumb enough to want half eaten fruit? Seriously!?!

Another question - what will be the next smartphone released with ICS? Maybe it's worth the wait, even though my OG dies faster every day.

I'm sure we'll see others early next year, but they won't be Nexus. They'll have locked boot loaders, bloat and skins. I'm holding out for an unlocked, skinless Nexus.

Yeah, I agree. That's the reason I'm forcing myself to deal with my OG. Nexus sounds so nice! Now to just have no more rumors and release it already!

So for those of you who are VZW employees, what are the stock levels like in your Tier 1 stores? Is thi something that we should be concerned about next week?

Thanks

Seems like I've heard anywhere from 20 per store up to 100 per store over the past week. I'd be surprised if any one store moves more than 20-30 units in one day...

+1

It's not getting any sort of promotion and hasn't really been revealed to the general public. Definitely liking my chances of getting one on launch day:icon_ banana:

If you add that to Best Buys, BB Mobiles, Costcos and Radio Shacks in a given area, I think most would have a good shot at one. If a weekday is tough for one person its gonna be tough for a lot.

On another note, I talk to Verizon this morning about my account and ended up asking the rep why? this is going on. She said its software issues that "Google" is working out. She told me Verizon has nothing to do with it. I responded with "The old he said, she said bit, huh?" (crickets). Take it for what its worth.

I agree thats a good amount of stock for a phone with no ad campaign behind it. I am concerned because I have a business trip next week and I would be able to get it until Friday morning. With no pre order that makes it tough.

It seems like with most of the recent phone release if you call first thing in the morning on release day (or as soon as they can officially tell you it will be on sale) a store rep will be more than happy to write your name on one and set it aside if it guarantees them a sale and commission. Never hurts to try at least.
