Question:
What would be your preference
A) Verizon put out a release date and it passed without the phone being released, and only rumors as to the reasons are reported but nothing concrete and no new date announced
B) same as above except it is released on said date but the phone has more bugs than the classic scene in Indiana Jones and The Temple of Doom, with Short Round and the blonde
Or
C) Verizon doesn't give a release date until the week before it will be released, and we all get it and it is running like a champ

Il take b just have a feel for it now and they can squish all the bugs later

Yeah, I'd probably say B as I don't see them having that many bugs to work out. All of the bugs have to be fixed by Google anyways, so Verizon holding up the phone doesn't really change anything.

I would rather it release without Verizon even testing or seeing the OS before Google pushes it. I thought thats what Nexus was? I have yet to buy a smartphone that was bug free. From BB to Android cant speak about iPhone, all on Verizon all "rigorously tested" by VZW which later turned out to be BS. An update for some phone, was packaged/signed two days before pushing ota to device. Not much testing there. It doesnt really matter what we want VZW does things that dont make sense and we can only speculate and scratch our heads.

You guys didn't read B too carefully did you?

"B) same as above except it is released on said date but the phone has more bugs than the classic scene in Indiana Jones and The Temple of Doom, with Short Round and the blonde"

I did, I just pointed out it doesn't matter if Verizon delays the phone's release because of bugs, they still have no control over when the bugs would be addressed. It's still Google who will have to release the OTA.

I'd rather have the bugs than be kept in the dark.

I'd be OK with B, but C obviously would be the best! I'm getting kinda impatient and I don't always mind unstable things, and thanks to being a nexus, Google should release updates fast!
Every phone well have bugs when released, so I think you can only squash so many bugs before it's released! :P

If Verizon could/would sell the phone just to people who would sign waivers saying Verizon is not responsible for the bugs and said buyer will not exchange or return the phone because of said bugs you would all be right. But Verizon is going to sell the phone to everybody who wants one and they will be the first in the line of fire if people are lining up for refunds or exchanges. It is simply not going to happen. I am not meaning to defend Verizon's failure to issue a release date but to ask/expect Verizon to release a premium phone with known bugs is a little over the top. Now I will sit back and watch as many post examples of releases with bugs which only shows that maybe, just maybe, Verizon has learned.

Verizon releases devices monthly with glaring issues. The Razr has the data connectivity issue that the Bionic has, it's a huge deal, causes people to lose data for 10+minutes sometimes. They have no problem releasing phones with severe bugs, so I don't buy this excuse.

Did they hold the 4s back because it had a terrible battery bug? no.

Did they hold back the Bionic with it's multitude of bugs? no.

You see the pattern?

I am sure that they have a deal that only a certain amount if bugs are allowed on release abs the fix need to be ready by a certain time period.

I'm thinking the community would fix software issues pretty quickly. If the hardware is solid, I want mine now.

I'm doubtful.

Like 9wire said, if it's software, release it to us. 10 bucks says we get it worked out quicker than they would.

In my most humble opinion, I would be okay if Verizon would just keep us somewhat up-to-date. Specifics would be nice, but just saying, Hey, here is what we are working on.... I would at least buy into the thought that they are considering me, one who has been with them through eternity.

I don't think Verizon has said anything. Google and Samsung confirmed the issue. Verizon hasn't given us a date ever, therefore has never delayed release. Their secrecy is why we are going crazy. Not any "delay".

Looks like our wait may be almost over. Best Buy has posted the "Nexus Prime" with pricing. I'm sure we will have a release date early next week.

http://androidandme.com/2011/11/news/best-buy-launches-nexus-prime-product-page-with-299-price/

Edit: In case anyone thinks this isn't a legit page (I've been reading comments on other sites, I've had my doubts too at this point), here is how to find it. From Bestbuy.com click on weekly ad in the upper right, once that loads, just type in "nexus" into the Ad search press enter. Then to my amazement it was there, just as they said.

That was found yesterday, it's most likely something they made weeks ago before the "delay" occurred. There hasn't been an official delay obviously, but outlets were predicting an earlier release.
