★★★ The "Official" I got my DROID BIONIC Thread ★★★

If you're getting low speeds on Speediest try choosing a different server. I get crappy speeds to the closest one to me for some reason.

what apps did you remove?

No where near the bloatware that came on my Charge. So far I've been pleased with the minimal crud on it ;-) Oh ya, and it'll let you remove that stupid Golf game that comes with it that they want you to buy. The Charge wouldn't let you remove that game.

Took the plunge at lunchtime today!! I bought the Bionic! It is swweeeettt! I know what I will be doing this weekend ;)

I also bought the Samsung 10.1 .... it feels like Christmas WooooHooo.

I was going to buy the lapdock but the way I like to get a new phone the lapdock would only last as long as the phone so I opted for the 10.1.

Soooooooo Happy! dancedroid

Went to the Verizon store to test one ofhese new fangled Bionics out today.

First impression: The pentile screen was immediately noticeable and very dissapointing. I pulled out my D1 and loaded the same web page on both, the OG screen did look better. I looked at a few other web pages and apps and it was less noticeable on some things. Where i noticed it the worst as on greys, like the background to a web page or text box.

I played with it a little more and then walked out of the store.

So, why did i post this in the "I got my Bionic" thread you might ask? Well because after mulling it over in the car for about 10 minutes I walked back in and bought one. And a car dock and extended battery. ;-)

While I was dissapointed with the screen the rest of the phone is superb.

Ok, been reading everything I can trying to convince myself to spend so much money on a phone (not there yet but...).

First, I'm a photographer and have been involved in the color printing world so I have some experience with photos, etc. I don't know why everyone is complaining about the screen. It's not the best screen I've ever seen but it's far from the horrible POS many have (essentially) said it is. There's nothing wrong with it. Could they have gone with a better screen? Sure but I don't see the screen being a handicap in any way.

Second, I've played with the Bionic a couple of times now. I REALLY want one, just can't justify the cash. I'm still working on the original Droid (got it the 2nd day it was out) and it's dying a slow, hard death. So I must do something. Might just get a TB for now and upgrade when my wife is up for an upgrade next year then give her the TB. But I digress...

I kinda wish they hadn't done the Motoblur thing. I have grown to like the interface on my Droid. Luckily, much of this can be changed with a little knowhow. But it doesn't seem to bother me as much as the UI on the LG Revolution.

The thing is stupid light! I would have thought the one the rep handed me didn't have a battery in it if I didn't see the screen on. That's how light it is.

I still HATE that they've taken away the dedicated camera button on the phones. Such a PITA to use the touchscreen to take a shot. But I digress again...

I love the phone. It is the perfect phone (today)...except for the price. Motorola did the same thing with the Xoom, priced it way too high. A bunch of geek early adopters (like me) will pony up the money but, $300 for a phone in this day and age which doesn't have an Apple logo on it? Come on... If they priced it at $200ish I think it would be the perfect price and many other (non-geek early adopters) would jump on it.

Also, they're on backorder from the Walmart site. Amazon is also selling it for $199 but it's also on backorder. Ugh...

well i just got mine today a few minutes ago actually and first impression this phone is awsome. so far i love this phone dancedroid better then the tbolt it smooth and fast its charging now so haven't played with it to much want to make sure its charged before i go to work so on break i can play, lol. but it was worth paying full price for this phone i think it will be a great phone till my contract is up next year in nov. then there might be a new cooler droid out then :icon_ banana:

Got mine today as well, along with the lapdock, desk and car cradles. Actually starting to like the lapdock, my bluetooth mouse paired right up and away I went clicking and typing loading programs back on. Have to say, in Milwaukee with the 4G this thing screams! At home on the WiFi, it's about the same as the DX, but there is NO lag.

I was also told that the gel cases fit into all the docks now, and I really liked the feel of the non-rubber one so I picked that up as well. Unfortunately, it does fit into the car and lap docks, but not functionally. The car dock fits, but won't charge or go into car mode, and in the lapdock, it does nothing, including turn on because it uses the phone as the switch. That's going back tomorrow!

One question I have is about memory. When I look at storage in settings, it shows Total Space of 8.00GB with 7.98 Available Space and 3.36GB available for Applications. Now I figure that can't be right, you'll lose more than that on formating. I'm assuming it really does have the 16GB internal and that 8GB is used in formating, OS and such? The memory card shows what should be correct as 14.89 GB Total and Available.

Now see I can't justify the lap doc, not when I've got a laptop and/or mini laptop I can take with me and the ability to make the droid a wifi hub. I admit it is really cool but I'd rather watch woot.com, safe $50 and get a 10.5" laptop that is a thing in and of itself..

Maybe if the lapdock was $100

BTW I bought Plants vs Zombies for $3. That means I now have several duplicate programs I have on my desktop also on my droid. 4 Months ago I upgraded to a 6-core PC earlier in the year and yeah it is faster than the bionic. That said the Bionic beats the pants off of the Athlon64 3000+ I upgraded from. Yeah that CPU is older desktop technology*, but I'm still amazed to see this kind of performance out of a phone...

*I stare at php code all day. It doesn't require much CPU but I had lots of fast memory and a blazing graphics card

The specs are 16GB internal AND 16GB on the included card. BTW the Droid 1 had 256MB internal. I may never move another app to the SD card again!

It does have 16 GBs internal

they split it up themselves

4GB for Apps (thats why it says 3.36GB)
4GB for System stuff
8GB for the owner to use

Got it yesterday 2 hours before we had the Socal/MX/AZ blackout. Love the phone. was able to stream netflix and the radio while everyone else couldn't even get 1 bar of signal. great 4G from Verizon, really clear screen on Bionic, kinda wish the volume could be louder. My D1 is much louder.

Trying to figure out if there is a way to run my music player through my bluetooth headset
