I had insomnia pretty bad on Wednesday night so I was just surfin the web... At about 2am I wonder on to the VZW site and log in.. I clicked on the Bionic and it said I would get $100 instant online discount, and $30 credit toward the $299... That brought it down to $169 which made the decision very easy.. And they gave me free Second Day shipping through FedEx..

Anyway, I'm very excited! About 3 weeks ago I was on my boat for my bachelor party and my original Droid got moisture under the screen and died..

Can someone shoot a video and test the zoom, just to make sure its not just me. I made a thread with with a video I shot outside, using the camera light, to test the zoom, alls it did was turn my dog into a Cerebus...

It is a digital zoom. So all you are doing is really quick and dirty pixel enlargement. I wouldn't expect much of the zoom. It did what digital zoom does, makes the pixels larger.

But that effect is really funny!

I wonder if it would be any better in bright daylight. I have hand held camcorders that don't do that well in that kind of twilight despite their numbers looking better.

I don't think thats it as most camcorders come with digital zoom and it doesn't pixelate like that.

LOL, what in god's name did you sacrifice to your dog????

my D1 did that when taking a pic or recording my two cats - both with eyes that would eat your soul
