[Theme] 928Droid Black Glass X for DROID 2 !!!

Just as a data point...

2.2.20/deodexed (xultimate), R2 applied

Boot loops as noted.

Factory Reset/data-cache wipe didn't help - still boot looped.

Going back to nandroid...I may have a 2.3.15 nandroid I can apply this Test2 file to as well.

OK....pulled the link.

Were all of you guys on 2.2.20 or any of you already on 2.3.15 Leak????

I was on your 2.2.20 928 DEODEXED beautiful version.

Want me to try it from leaked 2315 rooted? I have a backup of that and would not take too long.

Yes, please.

I thought I had backup of my previous 2315 but I guess i don't. So this is what I'm doing so you know.
  1. Restoring stock 2.2 rooted
  2. updating to 2315
  3. Applying your test2 zip file
I also have a stock 2.2 rooted version that has been deodexed that I can restore if needed.

2.3.15 finished restoring, applied test2.

Rebooting now.

Long reboot...have to leave to go back to work, will post how it goes.

Did boot up...one issue found so far - though SD card is seen from Root Explorer, and I can take pictures, can't get gallery to show images/videos on sd card, and when I take a picture and then tap on the small icon on the bottom left of the camera app to go to that picture, it takes me to a blank gallery icon.

So something funky there...

Mine rebooted fairly fast. I cannot access Camera from side key OR app drawer. Screen flashes though and with camcorder I hear clicking but the screen stays on home screen.

Also, Notification bar seems different, for one thing when you pull it down there is no battery status and I don't see date either. Maybe I should have used my deodexed 2.2 stock rooted restore?

Heading home in a few minutes and be away from computer until about 9PM EST tonight but I'll be watching this thread update with anticipation (guess I need to purchase Tapatalk pro)

Red - guess I know we are on opposite sides of the country since you were just heading back to work (assuming from lunch) :)

Did you check to see if you had odd Camera behavoir with plain 2315???

Also look in the system/framework and system/app folders for any .odex files... this has been a reported issue with the 2315 update that causes issues, especially with the camera.

What Launcher are you uising???

RedFlea, do you have this issue??

Let me know if there are any other oddities... if you guys don't mind I may create some incremental update zips and do this one area at a time with 3-4 different update zips

It's OK now...Gallery did finally populate, and things seem to work fine for camera.

Did a quick search using Root Explorer of /System and subdirectories, no ODEX files found.

No - I don't have that issue, notification bar is fine. Has new red text "Black Glass X D2 on it - nice. :)

I am getting FC-ing of the battery manager when I click on the battery, but other 2.3.15 users are seeing this as well, so I think it's a "feature" of 2.3.15 that is still there - I'll try clearing data, but IRRC that didn't work before.

As far as I can tell, things seem to be working fine now - tried a few apps, email (GMAIL and Exchange Email and calendar) working fine, streamed some radio via a radio streaming app, market seems to work/update OK, updated a bunch of apps, except the twitter app download keeps coming up unsuccessful (likely a market issue).

I can launch Add Account w/out issues. :)

This actually seems good to me know...have to keep playing with it, but I think, aside from the known battery manager FC, things look good.

Well that is great news all around, nice surprise after leaving to get some coffee (cussing and wishing I had a D2 here along the way) and then coming back to read this. :-)

The Twitter issue is because I am not using the latest version yet, it is in the system/app folder and you probably have Twitter set to automatic updating.. for now make sure that is not checked, IF you want to keep my Themed version. If you want the newest one from Market, go to system/app and delete Twitter.apk , reboot and it will update from the Market successfully. Honestly I haven't heard or seen any thing about the later versions features to warrant making it a priority to update yet. But will get to it.

Speaking of that, did I get the right TwitterDoes D2 version in there this time? :-)

Ok, if you don't mind look in LiveWallpapers and make sure "Neural Network" is in there, and that it works OK, and is my darker background w/red trace only version.

BTW, the Gmail app should be the latest 2.3 version.

And a quick check in Root Explorer , go to system folder and let me know used and free space at the top left.

Glad you like the new ERI....that was a last second change, thought it was more appropriate.

Keep me posted as to anymore glitches, looks like this is goona be a 2.3.15 ONLY version. It seems I will have to make another version with all the new Optimizing, Compression etc and newer features for just 2.2.20.

BTW, have you heard any future D2 OTA update Rumors??? I have always wondered about the "leaked" 2.3.15 it seemed very odd for it to have the same number as the Official OTA for the Droid X...never ever seen that happen before, wierd!

Thanks again for all of your help, and sorry for all the issues...but I think it is gonna be worth it.

OK...I don't use the system twitter app anyway, so not an issue for me.

Looks like the right one - says "Droid Does" across the top, has the D2 boot animation eye at the bottom.

Ok, if you don't mind look in LiveWallpapers and make sure "Neural Network" is in there, and that it works OK, and is my darker background w/red trace only version.

Looks like the right one - only red trace.

BTW, the Gmail app should be the latest 2.3 version.

It is. :)

And a quick check in Root Explorer , go to system folder and let me know used and free space at the top left.

189.55 MB used, 88.81 MB free. Didn't do a "before", sorry.

Yeah - it did NOT like 2.2.20. :)

That's been oddly quiet...there's been no info that I've seen. The fact that there is the battery manager FC makes me think it's likely that 2.3.15 may not be the final version...

Thanks again for all of your help, and sorry for all the issues...but I think it is gonna be worth it.

No problem...happy to assist. I won't have time until later, but I'll play w/more apps. Made a 40s video, it saved and played back w/out issues.

Haven't seen anything else odd yet...

Did the text messaging app change in your theme any? I remember for the short time that I was running the "update", that the date/time stamps were inaccurate, causing the messages to be displayed out of order. I might flash back to my updated nandroid if you were somehow able to fix that....

Redflea... can you chime in on this?
