[Theme] 928Droid Black Glass X for Droid X !!!

Alright, so I rooted using Gui one click method, I themed using metamorph, it kicked me out of the google servers. I went "back to stock" with the same metamorph, and I am able to log into google now, but I have black on black buttons on some apps like maps that I don't remember being there. I may be paranoid, but the "stock" seems a little different and buggier. I would really like to install this new froyo leak, but when I start looking at sbf and what not, I get a little intimidated. I am sort of wishing now that I would have left my phone alone, especially with this theme. Can anyone give me any advise? What could I do to put my phone truly back to stock and then try this new froyo method? I would feel better if someone could just tell me that a noob like me could bring my phone back from a brick if I totally blow it. Thanks in advance.

trying to do the same thing... 928 back to stock doesn't work due to the fact that it drops you back to the first firmware that came out for the X not the needed 604

Also tried to use Fabulous back to stock but that didn't help either

Wish someone had a stock update.zip I could load to get me back to stock 604

I'm having the same problem, I tried the back to stock update.zip from the download folder and I still have the black facebook and twitter apps and can't even delete them with a terminal emulator. Can someone please post a true "back to stock" update.zip so I can fix my phone and wait for the official froyo before I screw my phone up anymore

Now I am seeing that the Froyo leak won't work if you used the bootstrapper app that I seem to need to run the universal theme remover. I wish I never would have put this theme on my phone. It looked cool, but totally not worth this. I am good to wait to get the official froyo... but will I get it if this theme tweaked my phone? I am afraid to use the bootstrapper thinking it is going to tweak my phone even more.

Seriously... can read my mind? lol I feel exactly the same way I mean the theme was cool for the first couple days but now I feel like I have no clue what I'm doing and just making things worse. So someone that's a pro and rooting and themes, could I just use bootstrapper to apply the back to stock update.zip from the download folder and then unroot and just wait for Verizon to push the official froyo?

My google maps has buttons like these: Is this normal? I can't remember how they looked before. Is my phone really back to stock theme? Help? My facebook and twitter seem to look normal as far as I can tell and it says I have 604.

All right, here's the deal.

Facebook, twitter, those don't matter. What matters are the stock apps and the /system files that got modified. Specifically, the framework-res.apk, services.jar, and (in this theme) the blur-res.apk.

I ran Fabolous' universal theme killer.zip, which is in update.zip format and can be run using Clockworkmod Recovery. However, as I found out, this theme killer is not universal, as it doesn't contain an untouched blur-res.apk.

So, after a long-ass process of discovering I lost root yet still had clockworkmod recovery when I rebooted, I was able to restore a nandroid (themed) and then run the theme killer again, but this time I adb-pushed my backup of blur-res.apk to /system/framework, and bingo! 2.2 install worked.

So, here's my copy of the blur-res.apk

Make sure to rename and remove the .zip; it is NOT a .zip file!

Good luck!

Awesome! Thanks for the file... sounds like you more or less had the same issue I have. I found a stock nandroid over at alldroid but after loading still getting error trying to do 2.2 something about sticky widgets.apk which I assume is in the blur.apk

my only question is can I push this with terminal or use root explorer? and what would be the commands?

Sorry to ask you for something else looks like you have been stuck helping people all day.

If anyone knows I would greatly appreciate it

I don't know about sticky widgets...I'll attach my copy.

And it has been said to NOT do this with root explorer.

put the blur-res.apk on the root of your sdcard (just makes it easier)

Commands for terminal:
su
mount -o rw,remount -t ext3 /dev/block/mmcblk1p21 /system
cp /sdcard/blur-res.apk /system/framework/
reboot

As for the sticky widgets, if this blur-res thing doesn't fix it, you can try copying the attached over what you've got. Root Explorer should be fine for this, so long as you make sure to adjust the permissions to match the rest of the .apks in /system/app.

THANKS A TON SERIOUSLY!! Will give a try in a few and give an updatedancedroid

Thank you so much for trying to help me out but I'm really sorry I'm kind of a noob at this (as you can tell by my panicking). But I'm going in circles and I just want my $600 phone back to the day I got it. I'm so sorry for annoying you but if you could give me like a step by step of exactly what I should do to get it truely back to stock unrooted and everything. Right now all I've tried is the back to stock update.zip that used to be in the download folder with bootstrap and then unrooting and rebooting. I didn't have to 604 updated version so I tried the software update but it always fails because it takes me straight to clockworkmod even though I deleted bootstrap and a factory reset just brings me back to an accidental recovery I made (before uninstalling). Wow. My life story right? anyways sorry for bothering you smart guys and any help would help me greatly including just telling me I bricked my baby and to just "accidentally drop my phone and get it replaced" thanks guys

ok tried the blur-res.apk that didn't work gave same stickynotes error. So now hopefully this is the last question I have for you

Once I have the sticky notes apk on my SD card how do I copy over the old one in root explorer?

Thanks again for all your help hopefully this will fix it

Guys..try to remember this Thread is about 928Droid Black Glass Themes....there are plenty of Droid X Froyo install isue Threads...we've gotten way off topic.

I know that some of the subjects are concerning untheming to install the Froyo leak...but that is a "blanket issue" not specific to my Theme.

Thanks!
