Update release at 8 pm tonight

So I did he software update this morning when I got home from work. I wake up and I don't have 3g (not in a 4g area). The phone works fine with WiFi on but when I turn WiFi off I don't have a data connection. The only time I can get it is if I check for a software update 3g will pop up for a minute then goes away. Any ideas? I have been messing around with it for about 1.5 hrs now. Stock TB, never had issues like this before. I checked mobile networks under settings and it is checked. ???

Go into networks and set the system to home only and make sure roaming is turned on and reboot, I have heard this fixed being stuck on 1x and it might help with your problem, don't know. Then I would try a factory reset. Also, has anyone found a way to make one that is saying its checking and then going away work I really don't want to wait till the push tuesday if I dont have to. Is there a way to install it from somewhere other than OTA that wont mess up future OTA updates?

Service unavailable for me. Oh well, i think I'm just going to wait for gingerbread dice I haven't had any issues so far. Or maybe I'll root when i get bored.

Had no problems updating my TB on wireless at home. Took about 8-10 minutes total. I never had any issues with my TB, hope this doesn't give me any..LOL

I was having difficulty pulling the new ota on my nonrooted (leaked mr2), update box just disappeared. Finally just downloaded and installed the full ruu. I am now up to date and phone is running great. Be prepared for a 420 meg download!

No, this is real. Same baseband and version, identical to the ota.

I did this one earlier, and although I had to set some things up it was much faster than usual with a complete RUU. I did not do a data wipe or factory reset since I was on the MR2 leak.

My phone has not had reboot issues whatsoever and runs good. So I'm thinking the only thing this update would do is disable the free mobile hotspot. Common sense says no to the update. Unless I'm missing out on some actually performance improvements. I doubt it.

I've only had my new thunderbolt for 3 days now and haven't experienced any of the common problems everyone mentions. I have the update available but I see no reason to update to lose my mobile hotspot.

lol you're not gonna lose your hot spots if you look under your apps is there it just move it's a different icons it's all it's not like you you're gonna get hotspot free hot spots still gonna cost you now that the promo is over plus I have no more reboots in it does seem the batteries last in a little longer

Got it done, It had me panicking a little on the boot screen, it took forever, but it definitely has better 3G reception, I have two bars at my house when I never have any.
