Verizon begins sending customers early upgrade promotions

What are some of you saying when you call? Are you telling them you got the promo even if you didn't or just asking to upgrade?

Sent from my Droid using Tapatalk

Some people are just asking for upgrades, some people are saying they got the message (smartest) and other people like myself call and ***** about how bad their phone is (was calling about my wifes devour) and tell them they want to speak with a super visor, the best numbers to try calling is the 800 number in the video i posted or the 800 number for customer service since it routes you to a center that has "authority" to give u the upgrade.

My upgrade is not for another 14 months! But counting on an early upgrade in Q1.

What am I missing that everyone is so hyped to upgrade to the X? I think some of these people may regret that decision when the LTE phones come out in Q1. Of course, maybe most won't be seeing LTE anytime soon in their area and the superphones might be overkill.
LTE won't be in my area for a while, most likely around my next upgrade so the timing might work out perfectly.

Not to mention I'm coming from a BB Curve 8330! Goddamn that thing is outdated.

So if I want to I could sell the Droid on EBAY for about $200 and get the Droid X for the same amount? Correct?

Yep... I just posted my Droid on both eBay and Craigslist.

how long until your line is ready to upgrade?

My one year upgrade wasn't until October, and my NE2 wasn't until near the end of next year. I called the number, told the guy I knew about the promotion, and told him I wanted to find out if I was eligible. I mentally kicked myself for that, but as it turned out I ended up getting one anyway. He asked if I had received the txt/email for the promotion and I said I had, which of course, I didn't. He said he would be glad to get me the upgrade and give me the rebate instantly, making the price 199 plus taxes, which I subsequently billed to my account. It was all pretty smooth and easy. Only thing is, it won't be shipped til the 4th.

I ordered mine last night, asked on shipping, and she said she knew they were backed up on orders but I should get it Friday or Monday at the latest...

It's become a race!

I mentioned I got a text about the promotion, but honestly it didn't sound like they cared about that. He kept asking me what I'd change about my Droid, or what I didn't like about it, which sort of confused me at first. I said nothing is wrong with the D1, but that I'd really like the bigger screen & faster proc on the X.

In previous calls, I had pointed out our very long history with VZW (since they were formed in 2000), and it fell on deaf ears. The last call to the 800# in the video, the rep actually pointed out our long account history as one of the reasons for granting the upgrade.

I just called Verizon Wireless and told them that I got a text regarding the promotion (eventhough I didn't). They had me on hold for a few minutes and they actually check in their campaign system and they didn't see the promo code on my account. They told me that if I go to a Verizon store and show them the text, they will honor it. BOOOOOO!!!

So..I called the number in the video. The guy was really nice. I told him that I had recieved and email and a text that told meI was eligible for an upgrade to the x. He proceded to tell me that they had no record of the text and that he wanted me to forward the email to his personal account to prove that I indeed recieved it. So......up S*&^ creek without a paddle right now.....any other suggestions?

Key thing is TRY and TRY again, some people (reps) are really nice and easy about it others blow chunks at it and wont help their own mothers.

Same thing happened to me this morning. But I told the rep that I got a text. They have a way of verifying in their campaign system that they had infact sent a customer a text about this. The rep told me to go to a Verizon corp store and show the salesperson the text message and they will upgrade me. At this point, if the tier data plan goes in effect tomorrow, I will pay the Verizon early termination and switch to Sprint and get the EVO. Like most carriers, Verizon & ATT has their own way of screwing everyone over.

And they have no way of tracking this? I mean, I guess my worry is about falsifying information. I know there are thousands of others calling and I'm just merely a spec of sand....

I called 3 times (2 times with the *611 idiots and then once with the 800 number (the magic one)) yesterday and chatted with verizon wireless machine on the internet and they didnt say boo. Finally on the 3rd phone call i got what i wanted which was a simple lateral move to get the ally for my wife instead of the devour since she doesnt want a high powered machine like the droid x or anything else.

It seems to be complete luck of the draw. I called twice to *611 and once to the 'magic' 800 number before I got what I wanted. I think they do keep & read notes of previous calls, due to the last representative's mentioning the length of our customer history after I had brought it up with previous reps. But it doesn't mean you won't get it eventually.

I don't think it's really fair how VZW is handling this promotion, but if they're making it a game, why not play along?
