I just installed the update from the link, not OTA. I was on 5.5.893 and rooted, that's it. I retained root. Phone is a bit sluggish I assume until the cache is rebuilt.
I'm in a 3G-4G edge but now I'm maintaining a one-bar 4G signal. Can't tell yet if it is an improvement but .886 was an improvement over original stock.
Just adding my input to say that the install went smoothly. I'll beat it up tomorrow.
Wont work when flashed in stock recovery. I get an error. Something about verifying build.prop. Im on 5.7.893 and forever rooted. Oh and i also unfroze all the bloat before i tried this.
See my post. I'm currently running through the process I outlined. It's currently installing 5.5.893 CWR. Once that's done I'll ensure I still have root (I'm sure I will), and reboot into stock recovery and start praying. I'm going back to bed to finish this. I needed the laptop to do the 886 flash, but, I should be good now.

This is important confirmation that it leaves mount-ext3.sh alone so rooted users that are on the upgrade path can keep root without a problem. Those of us who have strayed from the straight and narrow have more work to do!
