verizon just sent me an update to 5.9.901

I hope he has some because I sure don't lol

I have a idea.... take the bp.img, cdt.bin, and lte.img from the update, and merge it with the stock FXZ that was released a while ago. Then flash it. This would flash the stock system, but the updated radio and kernel (in theory!!!) then you can just use the clockwork CWR to 893, then official to 5.9....

I would test, but I LIVE on my phone! I can make the file tho if anyone is daring enough to test

Shooting from the hip...not really but a lot of good info has been quickly established here and P3Droid and I will take a better look at it, as I am sure many others will also. This is a good sign that they are serious about addressing these issues with the Bionic and I am still optimistic we will find a way back to the path or that one may be provided for us by various means in the course of the updates. This may have been pushed but yet remains unacknowledged officially. Lets see what difference a day makes and keep an open mind! ;)

was just an idea :P I hate being stuck on 5.7 :( want to be on path for good ol ICS

You and me both. But I'm not going to try that cause I know it'll fail. I'm done for tonight. Lost root so I cant boot recovery to restore my phone. Will deal with it in the morning.

Well dang I thought that 5.7.893 and 5.5.893 had the same kernel but maybe the boot.img has a different md5? I wish they would just stop with the patching, of at least the kernel. I think thats why they are so dependent on version, they want to keep the OTA small so its just patches, if they would just put a full boot.img in the OTA and then not check it, it would fix everything.

That would be nice. I need to get up and put my phone back into a working state. Just need root and recovery so I can restore my nandroid.

Pulled the 5.7.893 and the 5.5.893, both intended to be upgraded from 5.8.886. Did a MD5 on the boot.img.p patch file and they are different. So even though they have the same kernel, they have different boot images. Bummer.

Im not tech savy, Im that guy who seen an update to solve my data drop and pushed some buttons like a dumba$$, so I just want to thank all who are trying to get us out of the 5.7.893 issue. If all fails I guess I will just have to get a new (not moto) phone.... live and learn.

That being the case the we are at the mercy of Motorola/vzw. Oh crap. Sigh. We could be stuck on this kernel forever. If a solution isn't found by February I'm jumping ship to a phone with an unlocked bootloader.
