Verizon Planning a Big Data Plan Price Jump

Damn!! A extra $15 per GB?! Talk about hwy robbery.

S5 tap'n
That's where it makes sense to jump up in plan if you're constantly hitting or coming close to your limit.

For $10 more a month, I could have 2 more GB then I currently have.

I can't see where TMO throttles to ISDN speeds. I know they cut speeds but I can't see to what. (I'm sure most of the kids on here don't know what an ISDN is.)
They go to 2G speeds

When was the last time you tried using 2g speeds? I was in a 3g area today and doesn't 5 minutes trying to load this forum through tapatalk... I couldn't imagine trying it on even slower speeds.

Yeah, because T-Mobile is a smaller carrier, and has always given more for the money. For Verizon to even give the option is a step in the right direction. T-Mobile is the reason we are seeing most of these changes, even as small as they may be.

Checkout this Verizon post of how bad 2g speeds are, THEY ARE LITERALLY crippling your ability to do anything productive

That VZW graphic is pretty funny...but I also gotta' call BS... unless maybe the 4G in Cleveland is pure junk.
1st one: start watching video in 15 seconds. OK, true.
2nd one: Upload 30 pictures... 11 sec?!?!? 11!!!!! Not on my phone! Maybe 30 thumbnails...but 30 pics I took with my phone? No way. That would take a minute or two at least.
Download 30 songs.... in 6 seconds? WTH!?! Where is this 4G network that can do that?
Maybe I just don't get the graphic...

I like using WiFi. Generally much quicker then 4G. To each his own, of course. My wife likes not having to look for Wifi when she's out and about but she uses it at home and her mom's and a few other places.
Same here, but my wife is good about using trusted wifi networks too. She even turns her phone data off during the workday since she's not allowed to use her phone. Turns it back on at break to see what she's missed.

Ok, so it's not definitely immediately reduced from 4G to 2G once your 4G allotment is used up, but can be throttled down from 4G to 3G, and then to 2G as the carrier sees fit at the tower, most likely based on tower saturation levels at the time data is used. This is likely also automated based on an algorithm pre-programmed at the individual cell tower switches. That may be good news.

It also mentions below the fingernail tip above, that certain uses [or apps] such as speed tests may not count against your monthly high-speed [read 4G] allotment or have speeds reduced after allotment. This means that you may be able to run speed tests and not have it impact your alloted monthly allowance. However it also means that after you've used up your monthly allotment, the speed test may not provide an accurate representation of the speed you will have after since they may not throttle the speed test however they may still throttle other uses such as streaming and web pages.
