Verizon Planning a Big Data Plan Price Jump

I'm not out to "stick it to Verizon", but being able to use my device without having to worry about about my usage and without having to use WiFi is a beautiful thing. [emoji41]

Had some good success with the new plans at work today. Saved someone who was still on a 700 minute plan almost $60/month by going to the 2gb plan, and another customer I saved $40/month by switching from the More Everything plan to the 4gb new plan, and yet another customer saved $5/month (better play the lottery now with that one lol).
You guys have to remember that users on this forum tend to be bigger data users than the 'average' consumer. These plans are going to benefit A LOT more people than not.

The 700 min plan customer is someone who should have paid attention to their bills. They could have saved that on the old plans as well.

Yes, we are a different type of user on the forums but we still have family members, friends who use just as much data as we do and they aren't downloading roms, themes, etc. Speaking of that I need to get the July security updates. :)

I can't believe people pay that much just for data. Here I am 20GB for $55 or 65 to get unlimited.

I've been working in the industry selling multiple carriers for 4.5 years. I've looked at thousands and thousands of rate plans and data usage and at least 80%, if not more, benefit from the plans. The 700 minute customer was using a combined total of .15 of ONE gb, and they were paying for 2gb on each line.
Since the AT&T unlimited data plan came back for Uverse/DirecTV customers, I personally have only put one account onto that plan, and have come across one customer who was already on it while doing an upgrade check. And T-Mobile, I have never put someone on the full unlimited high speed plan.
Like I said, there are definitely some people who do not benefit from these types of plans, but the majority do. The average smartphone user uses about 2-3gb of data per month. Those numbers are rising though, since we do so much more with our phones.

My friend has been a regional manager with them for almost 15 years. Even she thinks Verizon is screwing their customers. Just depends on how you look at it.

Every carrier is screwing their customers, let's be real here.

They are a FOR profit business so I expect them to make money. As is every other company. They don't do it for the customers. Could I charge my customers $100 less an hour, sure but when I'm giving them a product they want and approve you have to pay to play.

This is where the big V can suck it. Dropping your carry over data the next month and then charging extra to drop people to 2G, 128Kbps speeds? That's just shady. These new plans cost me more money than keeping my old voice/texting and UDP.

It's better to go to lower speeds and not get hit for overage charges as they were doing before this change ...T-mobile does the same and everyone is happy with it .. it gives you option to bump up if you wish ....I've seen the speeds at lower rate they get the job done in most cases ..

I agree that these new plans seem to be a benefit to quite a few folks, especially if they are on some older plans that are NOT unlimited. It actually looks like Big Red is offering some decent value for a good swathe of their customers. Obviously there will be some folks who won't benefit from these plans, but they also do not have to switch to them, so that's encouraging.
