Ok... I manually updated to 2.2 ( FRG01b ) and am having issues. Mostly GPS related stuff. Anyway.. I'm not too happy about it and would like to do one of two things. What would be the easiet for me (I'm very new at all this).

1. Am I able to go from 2.2 to 2.2 rooted? And is there an easy way to do this?

or

2. Go back to 2.1 at this point I may you the new one click root to 2.2

Please help! This is all so confusing!
There are no one-click rooting programs currently available legitimately either on-market or off.

Try updating to FRG22 yet? It might solve your issues.

No... I don't see where to get the FRG22 update. Am I missing it?

Also... I'm hearing I have to have 2.2 rooted before updating to FRG22. Is this true?

I thought there was a patch floating around. My bad. I'm not sure how you'd go back to 2.1, either. I have feelers out on the subject, but nobody's replied yet.

I was promised that when Froyo came I could press a button and M&M's would disburse from the bottom of the Droid. And that I could pick the colors and they would come cold.

If this isn't true I'm suing!

I knew nothing of a FRG22 patch floating around for non-rooted users, but if there is one, I'd certainly love to have it.

I went ahead and did the manual update to FRG01b. Couple of reboots in the early going and a ton of lag with the launcher, plus a couple of force quits, but I've had it installed for about an hour now and I'd say it's been running wonderfully for the last half hour or so. Still a bit of lag on the home screens but overall a much faster browser. Installed the Flash beta and tried a couple of flash intensive sites, all worked beautifully and quickly. No complaints at all there.

I did notice, I'm experiencing the same heat problem others have mentioned in the back near the camera. I've got a case on mine and I can feel it even through that. I've taken the case off to give it a bit of breathing room.

Was that issue ever addressed or resolved? I checked my Facebook sync and everything seems to be normal, 3G notification icon isn't going crazy or anything, but there's definitely some heat back there.

No negative effects on the battery thus far. When I applied the update, I was at 70%, now after doing so, and using it heavily for the last hour, I'm only at 60%.

Check and see if there is an update for Facebook. The Devs announced they found a bug in the new Facebook that caused a battery drain issue. I updated mine, and have had ZERO overheating or battery issues.

Alright, cool, thanks. I just went ahead and downloaded 1.3.1, any idea if that is the correct one? I was under the impression that 1.3 (and earlier versions if running on 2.2) was the culprit.

This may end up being the most important post ever. Does this mean no OTA 2.2 for Droid EVER? I strongly suspect gingerbread is never coming to Droid 1 (and always did suspect that). No 2.2 OTA is a huge deal to the community if it is true!
GINGERBREAD for droid is never gona happen becuz gingerbread requires 1ghz processor

1.3.1 is the correct build. Also, if you are running a Task Killer app, remove it. Froyo has an internal task killer that conflicts with them and causes issues of it randomly calling people, or opening apps or keeping apps open when you put the phone to sleep.

Yeah, the first thing I did after I booted up 2.2 was uninstall Advanced Task Killer, so I'm set there.

Still seems a little hot in the back, but I've been using Flash, so I'll wait until it gets a good night's rest before making any judgments.

That was just a rumor and Google stated that it wasn't true.

Oh cool, we have a developer from the Google Android team in our midst. At least, I assume you are because that is the only way you could know what Gingerbread will require. (tongue-in-cheek)
