Verizon pulls Android 2.2 "FRG01b" update for DROID 1, future updates uncertain

This may end up being the most important post ever. Does this mean no OTA 2.2 for Droid EVER? I strongly suspect gingerbread is never coming to Droid 1 (and always did suspect that). No 2.2 OTA is a huge deal to the community if it is true!

Even if it was not going to be officially available, I bet there would be plenty of developers that would do their best to prove you wrong.

Been running FRG01B for 3 days now and it does run the battery down faster (still using FB 1.2). Using stock launcher and have no issues with apps. Love the speed though (is it running the cpu any faster at all? ).

Yes, indeed the cpu is running faster. It's running at 800 mghz as compared to 500 mghz on previous OS.

However if one reads the "news" it stated rights and royalties. We know Flash works on 2.2, this is about $$$$$.

However I'm tired of the secret sources, this is another rumor until verified publicly, and I'm movin on ...

I tend to agree, but as Hook pointed out on another thread recently, this is the fun/tradeoff we get for being a part of this community.

And I still contend that flash, as we have it now on the Droid, is useless, for all intents and purposes. So, "works" is very subjective.

Yes Jn, I agree was well on your comment about the community, and since you said it first, I agree on flash. Yeah, it's nice, but I think in a bit I'll be pulling it and regaining space for other apps. It's like a fad, you can go and play online, etc.

But I reserve final thoughts until after the one with HW accel comes out, if at all.

Lastly, while it is hard to consider, let's ALL face something: The Droid is not going to be our last phone (Let's not change to a death, dying thread eh?)

If this becomes a fact, and IMO it is not, I already have it, and run it, and wll be content until I get my next phone.

i personally could care less about flash on my Droid. in the places where flash would be needed/useful (hulu and other flash-based video streaming sites), it still doesn't work. anyway, i'm rooted and i got my froyo 2.2 via a custom rom. i'm happy.

Flash is one of the few things iPhone users will NEVER have, so want it for that...

Will the DROID ever be able to print money? I heard the Incredible can do that. Will that come with Froyo??

Flash was promised before I bought the Droid...thats one of the reasons I bought it. False advertisement if we dont get flash.
