Hey Viper,

Thanks for the response to my earlier question. I switch to the Dolphin browser and it does not do it at all anymore. In case someone else asks later in the forum, I do recall that it was always on landscape mode when it did it... not sure why though. I have another question that I have seen in other threads on this site, but I have not seen the question here yet (I don't think... I have read them all). When I am making a phone call, the face sensor is a little too sensitive IMO. When I am on a call and take the phone away from my face, there are times that the screen does not come back up. Other times, it is time to hang up and I cannot get the screen to come on to either hit end or verify that the call ended. When I call voicemail, as soon as I hit send the screen goes black and I cannot use the number pad to enter the password. I have to actually open the physical keyboard to get it to light up and that only works sometimes. On Friday morning, I received a call that I did not want to take. I accidentally hit the accept button and the screen went black and I could not hang up. When I finally got the screen to light up it showed the call and been active for 49 seconds and was still connected. That was embarrassing because I had to hang up on the person because I was in a place where I could not talk. This is the only problem I have with this phone now. I have managed to work around everything else, but I cannot figure this one out. I have rebooted, battery pulled, started in SM, and updated. Anyone have the same story or a solution? Thanks a million to Viper and all the others who have made this the place to be. I brag to all my friends about the awesomeness of the DROID and this site.

Oops, one other thing that is not an issue but I would like advice on how to correct it. In my Gallery all of my pictures are duplicated in several places. I have one folder that says All Pictures (129), All Videos (10), Pictures (112) - these 112 are the same pics ones that are in All Pictures, Videos (10) - same ones as All Videos. I am not sure how this happened or how to fix it. I don't want to lose memory if the pics are duplicates. Thanks again for the help.

I have exactly the same thing. I do have 4 movies there and they are also duplicated and I can tell you it doesn't take any more memory. I don't know why there are two of videos and pictures but I figured they were two formats or something.

I would have at least 3 bars with the moto q- i could make calls -once in a while i would loose connection but not that often. with eris I can sometimes connect but my the call on both ends is in and out really
cannot have a conversation

Hmm, try a new phone and see if that fixes it. That would be my suggestion, unless you know other people with an Eris. Have them come over and see if it is still a problem.

Viper, Thank you for your time you took to reply to an earlier question regarding video file size limits.
On another note (I checked online and couldn't find the answer), is there a means of moving 1 contact (my wife) to the home page so all I have to do is to touch that icon and her number will dial? Also, my business contacts are mixed with my personal contacts. Is there a way of separating them into 2 different folders?
Thank you in advance. You provide an invaluable service to all of us!

For a shortcut to speed dial... Home Screen > Long Press and Hold > Shortcuts > Direct Dial

Contacts fix would be through GMail, that would be the easiest way. BACKUP everything first. Than go into each contact and choose the group you want them associated with. When done BACK THEM UP again (make sure to call the backup a different name than the first one). Than delete all from your phone and GMail. Once there are no contacts in the phone anymore, import your fixed contacts file. Initiate a sync from your phone... Home Screen > Menu > Settings > Accounts and Sync. Tap on your GMail account and the green sync circle.

To than manage your contacts and what groups you see, from Contacts... Menu > Display Options. Select your GMail account and tap on the group(s) you want to view.

Hope this helps!

Viperboy,
My speakerphone stopped working! What could have caused this and what can I do to fix it?

Try a battery pull. If that doesn't work, SM. If it works in SM, boot in regular mode and verify if it is working. If not, the device should probably be replaced.

Viper,

Thanks for doing this thread.

I am finding that my space bar on the pull out keyboard is a little lower than the rest of the keys.

Is this normal?

Yes, I would say so. It is just slightly lower. It's fine :)

It's happened to me and it is annoying. Try cleaning above your screen a little and see if that helps. Actually, come to think of it, I don't think it has happened since the update, but before when it happened to me, I just yanked the battery to end the call quick :D did you try pressing the power button when this happens to bring up the screen?

Try plugging in your Droid into the computer and looking at all the files there. I don't know how yours is setup, but my pictures aren't just dumped into there. I have a picture folder with folders in them. Verify that you don't just have duplicates on your memory card.

Viperboy, are there any possible explanations for the new bug of the speaker not working once headphones are unplugged? Does it have to do with the crackling and going into shuffle and global shuffe? Sorry if this has been asked before.

Also, does verizon transfer everything including apps or just contacts and pictures? I might dump my entire OS somehow to keep my apps if I possibly do the root access thing later.

Hey while im playing music on the droid it always pauses for a second or two when a notification pops up. I think its great when the sound is on for notifications so the music isnt drowning out the notification sound but is there a way to disable that when the phone is on vibrate or at all? It disrupts the tracks im listening to, its no biggie it jus reminds me of cds skipping and its a bit annoying.

Hmm, I never noticed this as an issue on my phone. Can anyone confirm if this is happening to them?

Yup, I have the same thing. It took me a couple of days to figure out what was happening, but yes, if you are playing music it will stop for notifications, even if the sound for them is off.

I can confirm this, when the ringer sound is on and a message comes through, you get a slight pause, the ringtone, then another slight pause and back to the mp3. When the ringer sound is off, you get about a second of dead air then back to the mp3.

Also, having another issue where my messaging will force close...often. It happens to me about 3-4 times a day and I'm a heavy texter. Sometimes I'll lose ALL of my texts, sometimes I won't...it's a guessing game. I have to repower my phone and then that's not a given on whether it will force close again. I have too many apps I use to keep it in SM for very long. Any ideas?

I do have a friend who has an eris that i can try. I did the steps on your first thread to get clearer calls and the mobile network type goes back and forth from CDMA-EVDO TO CDMA 1XRTT and it seems like i get a little better signal on the 1xRTT, are there any other fields I should change in there that might help, like channel or anything?
when i went back into program it did not save the settings, maybe that just works on moto droid.
thanks

I got "Camera pictures" with 15pics and "Camera media" with the same pics in them, then I got "download" folder with all the pics I downloaded online, which is 15, and then there is "All pictures" folder with all the pics combined, no duplicates, so 30. I guess my question is, is this the way the Gallery works? When I hooked it up to my computer and downloaded all the pics from my phone I did get duplicates, one was the normal size, but the other was smaller like 1/4 in dimensions. Any ideas?

Nothing I can think of that would explain that. I mean, it's definitely a software problem, but I couldn't tell you what is causing it.

And no, we can only move contacts, pictures, and videos. Nothing else.

Hmm, odd. Thanks for the information, guys. And the stock messaging app slows down and tries to FC on me semi-frequently, but like you, I am a big texter. Never lost anything, but sometimes it acts up. The solution really is to just keep your messages cleaned out.

I couldn't tell you how that would work on an Eris, but I wouldn't mess with any other settings if I were you.

When i record video with the Droid, the sound and video dont sync up. Anyone else have this problem?

My phone has a few folders, and I get the pictures in the individual folders. Those are all previous pictures I moved over. When you use the camera on the Droid, it makes a folder for videos and pictures to distinguish them from all the other pictures. Lastly, there is the folder that includes all the pictures and videos that were imported to the SD and the ones that you took from the camera. Is that how yours is? It should be.

I guess it's pretty much like that, just looks weird, I got the pics I took with the camera in 3 different folders(Camera pictures, Camera media and All pictures).
How do you explain the duplicates I got when I imported the pics to my computer?
I would get the original picture 1600x1200 and a duplicate of 400x300.

Here is what you can do to improve call quality. I have done this on every customer's Droid.

##7764726 (##PROGRAM)
CALL Button
Enter SPC Password - 000000
VERIFY
04 Vocode
Select EVRC-B

This will change how the phone compresses and decompresses call audio. Seems to work really well, I have noticed and improvement for sure and I no longer get the "you sound like you're underwater" complaints from people I talk to. Give it a shot!

Are there any negatives/risks to doing this? If it is so great, why isn't it the default?

Are you sending the MP3 to yourself through G-mail... I believe you should be able to save it that way.

However, it would be easier and faster if you use the USB cable to copy the MP3 from your computer to your Droid's SD Card, as most mail systems kind of hate you sending MP3s or other large files over the e-mail system.

tnx for the answer. I have added mp3s via the usb cable. 1 for a ringtone and another as a notification tone (tiger woods' mom's "what happened" sound bite. pretty funny). though I didn't try using gmail, only hotmail. I just figured it'd be easier/quicker to "save as", but via usb is fine I guess.
Not sure if it helps, or makes sense, but I was sent an audio file via text. The only way I found to save it was to "slide" your finger over the icon that it shows as (that little play button). For me it brings up an option to save as well as a few others. Hope it helps.

cool, tnx. I'll give that a try.
