Viperboy, are there any possible explanations for the new bug of the speaker not working once headphones are unplugged? Does it have to do with the crackling and going into shuffle and global shuffe? Sorry if this has been asked before.
Also, does verizon transfer everything including apps or just contacts and pictures? I might dump my entire OS somehow to keep my apps if I possibly do the root access thing later.
Nothing I can think of that would explain that. I mean, it's definitely a software problem, but I couldn't tell you what is causing it.
And no, we can only move contacts, pictures, and videos. Nothing else.
Hmm, odd. Thanks for the information, guys. And the stock messaging app slows down and tries to FC on me semi-frequently, but like you, I am a big texter. Never lost anything, but sometimes it acts up. The solution really is to just keep your messages cleaned out.
I couldn't tell you how that would work on an Eris, but I wouldn't mess with any other settings if I were you.
I got "Camera pictures" with 15pics and "Camera media" with the same pics in them, then I got "download" folder with all the pics I downloaded online, which is 15, and then there is "All pictures" folder with all the pics combined, no duplicates, so 30. I guess my question is, is this the way the Gallery works? When I hooked it up to my computer and downloaded all the pics from my phone I did get duplicates, one was the normal size, but the other was smaller like 1/4 in dimensions. Any ideas?
My phone has a few folders, and I get the pictures in the individual folders. Those are all previous pictures I moved over. When you use the camera on the Droid, it makes a folder for videos and pictures to distinguish them from all the other pictures. Lastly, there is the folder that includes all the pictures and videos that were imported to the SD and the ones that you took from the camera. Is that how yours is? It should be.
I guess it's pretty much like that, just looks weird, I got the pics I took with the camera in 3 different folders(Camera pictures, Camera media and All pictures).
How do you explain the duplicates I got when I imported the pics to my computer?
I would get the original picture 1600x1200 and a duplicate of 400x300.
The only thing I can tell you is to fix it from your computer when it is mounted. That should be the easiest fix. Try to get all your pictures in one place on the memory card.
Viperboy,
Can you help me troubleshoot this? I have a problem with my notification ringtone ever since the new update was installed. It seems to be "stuck" on the Ta Da and Vibrate each time I receive a text message and no matter what I change the Notification Ringtone to it is still using that Ta Da tone and vibrating. Thanks in advance. I hope that you can help me. Thank you for your time.
I believe I responded to this already. Go into SM and try to change it and confirm that it works when you get a notification. Boot back up normally and see what it says for notifications. Test it out. If it doesn't work, some 3rd party program is messing with your notifications.
Excellent tip on call quality. Thank you.
Can I get my Droid to Auto Answer with my bluetooth?
Not unless there is an app that does that, sorry.
Ok when I got the new software update I got the error with the exclamation point, is there a way to redownload it? My phone says I do have the new version so I should be good but now when I send an SMS to a person, when they respond back and I open it up it is blank, i have to close it and open it again to see the convo. This only happens on the first SMS thread of the conversation, its fine after that. Not really a huge issue, just annoying.
Also, I am a big google calendar fan, why don't the sports calendars sync up on the droid?? thanks for any help.
As far as a bad software load, bring it into the store and see what they can do. We are not supposed to flash customers phones for multiple reasons, but on the Droid's it WILL erase everything on your phone when flashed. They might flash it, they might replace it. Depends on the store.
And I'm sorry, not sure what you mean by the sports calendars. Through who? Is that something Google provides? I am not familiar with them if that's what you're talking about. Does is show in your calendar in GMail from your computer?
After the update for my Droid Eris, I can no longer send my regular 3Mega Pixel pictures without it automatically converting to MMS. Now the picture quality is vey bad when people receive the pictures. The same pictures before the update were received crystal clear, and now, they are very low quality and blurry. What can i do to fix this?
Who did you send it to (what network were they on)? How did you send it? Does it happen to every person you send it to? More info, please.
I started a thread about e-mail account disappearing --- I'm not the only one experiencing this. Not sure if this has been address or if there is some place that we can get this escalated so that either Motorola, Google, or Verizon is aware of this issue and get it resolved. So far this has happened to me 3 times. The first two times all my e-mail accounts just disappeared. The 3rd time, only my Exchange e-mail account disappeared. Yesterday, my Droid kept telling me that I needed to setup Gmail but it was already setup.
That's very odd. In the store, I have not seen that issue one single time. I will try to read up on it. Can anyone pinpoint what might be causing this problem?
ViperMuffin,
When I try to forward an email, the information does not send. I have my flight information from Travelocity, and I'm trying to send it to my friend from my Droid, and it doesn't send the information at all, it's just blank.
Does anyone have the same issue? Is there a way to possibly fix it?
Unfortunately this is my only issue with the phone.
ViperMuffin?
Did you try forwarding it to another email? Does it do the same thing? When you sent it to your friend, can they read the email from their computer? We need to see if it is a phone issue or a GMail issue.
It's in this thread. PDANet is a voilation of your TOS. You use that at your own risk of bieng cut off or billed for te extra use. Like the game online with his XBOX360. Sure they won't ever tell the difference :icon_eek:
Exactly. And who's XBOX are you referring to??
Link? or Post #
Found it....Not really an answer....more like tip toeing around it.
Well, he isn't really an authorized Representative of Verizon for here, so the best he can do is tell you their current stance on it. For all intents and purposes, PDANet is somewhat like tethering your droid. Since it isn't using the approved method of hooking up your laptop as Verizon would like you to use VZWAccess or whatever it is called, then you aren't exactly in compliance with the contract.
Verizon Wireless does charge $15 a month to tether your Smartphone to your computer, at least, that is what I see for the Blackberry, and it requires you to use specific software in order to do it. So using something that circumvents the $15 monthly fee would be something they would frown upon.
Perfect, thank you. PDANet is a violation of the T&C's. Like I said, there are things that I can and cannot say on here. Point being, you shouldn't be using it because they could find out and bill you for it or cut off your service.
If you would like tethering officially, 1Q '10, VZAM will be working for Android. If you were to come in the store and ask me about tethering, that would be my answer.
Viper,
Are you aware of any information regarding what's happening with former Alltel customers who got the Droid like myself? Anyone who is on an Alltel plan doesn't actually see VZW towers, we only get the Alltel ones (network name is "Unknown" in the phone status screen, there's no network name displayed on the unlock screen, PRL number is different from "real" VZW Droids etc) Visual voicemail also doesn't work for us and there's a gigantic thread in the tech forum here about GPS reception not working for many Alltel users, particularly in the south. (it does work for me here in AZ, but I'm worried about it potentially not working on a trip.)
My understanding is that what used to be the Alltel tower network is separate from the actual VZW network and this is why we're seeing all these issues - the different PRL number causes the phone to pick Alltel towers even if there's a closer/better actual VZW one. My roommate has a full signal on his VZW (non-Droid) phone, and I get 1 or 2 bars inside the house, presumably because I'm actually on an Alltel tower.
Do you know of any way to get the VZW PRL so that my phone actually uses the VZW towers? I send a bill to Verizon every month and this really irks me that I can't actually use the towers.
Thanks!
Ryan
Ryan, I am sorry, I won't be much help on the Alltel questions. Alltel isn't available in all areas and I am not in an area with legacy Alltel customers. Maybe there is something you can do to get a "Hybrid PRL" which Verizon can send to your phone, but you have to call up tech and talk to them and explain what's going on. From my understanding, it's not a quick fix, but they should be able to help you out with it.
Hi viper, great info here.
My question is regarding bluetooth in my car. On my old LG chocolate when I receive a call my car speakers will ring. With the droid my car speakers do not ring when there is an incoming call. The only way I know I received a call is if I'm playing music/radio and there's a pause in the sound when there is incoming call. I tried both vibrate and ringer mode and still don't hear my car speakers ring.
Thanks in advance.:greendroid:
I just tested it and when plugged into my stereo, it rings through there and also through the phone. No sure why you're wouldn't be doing that. Try SM and let me know what the outcome of that is.
Viperboy
My screen goes black and when i hit the button it just acts like its coming up..u can see light shining through the black, but it never comes up. I end up taking the battery out everytime
What are you doing when this happens?
Viperboy,
First off thank you so much for all of your help. I have learned a ton from you. I don't know if this has been asked of you, but I have searched the thread. I live in Sarasota, FL. It is on the SW coast of FL. I am an ex Alltel customer and I can not pick up gps satellites. If you read the "Apparent GPS failure" thread you can see this is a very common problem. Do you have any insight into what Verizon is doing about this? I have been told that since I am an ex alltel customer, I will not be able to get GPS. I am not complaining to you, but I was curious to see if you can check with your sources and see if there is a remedy to this? Thank you so much and thank you for all of your help.
Again, see a few quotes above, not much I can tell you about Alltel. Calling tech is probably the best thing you can do. If needs be, they will file a ticket. Hopefully, they can get this to work better for you Alltel guys.
I may be in the wrong forum to ask this, but is there an email app that will let you make the text LARGER? The text for the native Droid email is WAY too small for us older people!
Sorry! Not that I know of. If someone knows, please share!
Viperboy a couple of battery related questions.
I have a second battery. When my battery goes to about 30%, i take it out and put in the other battery. When I put the first battery back in to charge at night, it usually says 50%. Is this normal?
Second question. If someone uses an aftermarket charger that only puts out 500ma, can this damage the droid, or will it just cause it too charge slowly and/or act weird
thanks in advance
Sometimes, if you're heavily using your phone, the phone will pull more out of the battery but kinda give it back. It's hard to explain, but it's completely normal. The best thing I can compare it to it when you floor your car merging on the highway or something, your gas gauge might go down a good bit but then go back up after a few minutes. Similar situation, nothing to worry about.
Just be careful with the aftermarket charger, anything could happen with them. I would recommend using the one that your phone came with
Thanks! I will download the auto-pilot plugin. I guess what I'm really after is a sensor or software package that would automatically turn airplane mode off when I enter a live signal area and automatically go into airplane mode, say after two minutes, when I have entered a non-signal area. That way, I can keep the phone in the case no matter what area I'm currently in. I'm going in and out of coverage all day long in my job. Just want to save wear and tear on the battery.
I think Locale will be your best bet, but I don't know of a plug-in or even a program that will check to see if you have coverage and adjust the radio accordingly. Great idea, maybe that could be implemented as a Locale plug-in in the future or something.
