Thanks for your time on here answering questions. I just wanted to let you know that I did the steps you mentioned to improve call quality and after it was done I was unable to make calls. I was able to recieve calls but when I would place one, my call would be ended imediately. I switched the setting back and was able to call again. I am in the Wilmington, NC area and on a Alltel plan still. Not sure if this has been mentioned yet. I was unable to read this whole thread. Thanks again for your time!


It seems from other posters that alltell customers have problem with that fix

I don't recall the answer Viper mentioned with regards to this other than the mention that the reason the fix wasn't default was due to the fact not all the towers are able to handle that mode, so it was more of a 'try and see' kind of fix, but generally it would work for most people. Alltel customers may have a slight problem due to this, I would suppose.
 
Viperboy, My friends have told me that when I text them they get the same message multiple times even though I have only sent it once. Also, my friend has been trying to send me pictures via mms and out of all the pix she has sent me only one has come though. The others are not able to be downloaded. Is there a fix for both of these?
What "app" are you using to send these messages?

It would be very helpful to know whether or not your "friend" is also on Verizon (or another provider).

the one that came with the phone. I haven't downloaded any apps for sending messages.
 
Just a heads up - EVRC-B does NOT work for me as an ex-Alltel customer in Phoenix, AZ. It's completely silent. 13k does work.

I will update my OP, but it seems that people who are at all related to Alltel, this fix won't work. Sorry, I was unaware of this because I am not in an Alltel market.

I have a question. Before the recent firmware update, my phone support videos that were larger than 1 gb in size-- now the video player only supports videos under 500 mg in size AND it's renaming some of the video files. In fact, when it's not doing that, it's dumping them completely. Any ideas? Seems like everything was fine until the update.

First time I have heard of this. Are they the same videos that were working before? What format are they in? Maybe another media player from the Market would help if the update broke the ability to play large files?

I have a question-when I go to an extended network area, I lose my data connection. My Blackberry 8330 would slow down as it was a 1x area but I still could receive e-mails, etc. I have tried a *228 but I still have this issue. Do you have any suggestions? Thanks. FYI, the area I am speaking is the Wabash/Peru, IN area.

Call Tech and see if they have an answer for you. They will need more information and will probably have to file a ticket to have your issue resolved.

Hi all. About 4 days after the 2.0.1 update the backlight on my keyboard and touch sensitive buttons does not want to come on anymore, even in the dark. Sometimes adjusting the brightness settings will fix it until next restart, but the results do not always last. I have tried a hard reset already. Thanks for any help.

I would take it to the store to have it exchanged. Seems like you did everything you should have.

I think verizon is having problems with txting...because im recieving mutliple txts as well as many of my friends/family that is on verizon and its not just me sending txt its other people sending them . I even get mutiple txt from people who are noton verizon..but they only sent it once.

She does have Verizon, but it's a pre-paid I do believe.

As it seems from this thread, there might be issues with messaging. I have noticed a few duplicates here and there but that has stopped for me. There are no known issues right now, so I would recommend that everyone having this problem call into Tech and let them know. The more tickets they have on this issues, the sooner it can be fixed.

Hi--not only am I new to this forum, but I just brought my brand-new Motorola Droid home from the Verizon store about 3 hours ago, where it seemed to be working just fine. A couple of hours ago, it announced that it was going to update itself and restart. I just came back in a few minutes ago to see the phone, at it appears to be un-responsive. "Droid" is flashing on a dead black screen. None of the keys work--can't turn it off, no screen display other than what I described. I took the back off, took the battery out, replaced it, then turned the Droid back on. Same thing--the Motorola "M" shows on the screen, then a red diamond-light, then a flashing "Droid" on a black screen. Nothing works. can't receive calls, either. Do I have a dud?
The use manual wasn't in the box, but I found it online--no help there. Hope you can help me!

Seems like a defective phone. Take it back and they will gladly give you another phone.

Any help for those of us that want to forward email attachments or save them to SD

I sent myself a .zip file and when I opened the email in the GMail app, I clicked Preview next to the attachment and it opened in AndroZip. I then clicked on forward and in the next screen, it showed the attachment there with a button to Remove the attachment. Everything is working fine for me. Are you using the GMail app?

If you want to download a file and it won't download from the GMail app, download Download Crutch and go to gmail.com from your browser and you should have no problem downloading it from there.

That is a question for Tech. That is a network feature and I honestly don't know what that does or how it works. If you find out, please let us know. I will try researching the answer as well.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't this thread title, "Verizon Tech here - ask away!"?

Sorry, I should have clarified. He should call Technical Support over the phone. They deal with the network, I don't. So when I say "Call Tech", it's because it's something that we in the store wouldn't handle.

Hey Viper,
As you know, the phone automatically wakes up when receiving an incoming call.
Is there any way you know of to change the settings so that an incoming text message will also wake the phone? Its a pain to have to light it up and unlock the droid everytime I hear an incoming text message tone.

Hi Rick, There is a app you can get at the Market called SMS popup, I've been running it for about 2 weeks. Works pretty good and will accomplish what your trying to do along with a couple other neat things, like change the color of the led. check it out

Is the 30-day return policy still in effect? Is returning the droid within the first 30-days actually an option? thanks.

Yes, you have 30 days to return the device. In that time, you can change it out for a different phone, but unless you are a VIP, there is a $35 restocking fee. We DO NOT just put that phone back in the box and resell it, it has to be returned to the manufacturer even if it's in perfect shape.
 
ViperBoy Hey thx again for all the answered posts you have done. I have a question wich im sure you probably cant answer but when my phone was initialy set up i used and existing Gmail acount..I have2 Gmail acounts one for work and one for Personal use. My problem is i didnt realize that everything is tied to the main acount for isntance the Gtalk (talk app included in the phoen) is using my work email acount and i would like to have it set to my personal account. I tried restoring my phone so i could put my personal account in and it worked fine however all the apps ive purchesed before from the market are attached to my work acount. So is there anyway to 1. have my phone set for My work account but change the Talk app to my personal acount or 2. set my phone to my personal account and have the Market as my work acount.

this is a repeat question that was overlooked sorry for repost

Sorry for missing your OP. Unfortunately, with multiple GMail account, it can become a little hard to manage. I think what you should do is make your personal email your primary and send an email to the developers of the apps you've purchased and say "Hey, I bought this app from you on my work email ([email protected]) but this is my personal email and I was wondering if I could repurchase that app and have it refunded."

At this point, that is really the best option I can see for you. Sorry.
 
Problem with Syncing Gmail contacts

I bought a Droid in early November and haven't had any problems until now. When trying to sync my Gmail contacts I get an !error which says "Sync is currently experiencing problems. It will be back shortly". It has been a week since I was last able to sync without getting this message. Any ideas? fixes? Thanks for your help!!!:motdroidvert:
 
viperboy besides *228 and a network extender is anything verizon can do about my poor signal at home?

Call Verizon and tell them that coverage is poor. They will send someone out to the area to verify and tweak the tower, if they can. If they tell you it is resolved but it isn't working well for you, call again and tell them that you are still having problems. If they get numerous reports of poor service in an area, they do work to resolve that. Enough reports, they may choose to build a tower. Call them and let them know.

I think what you should do is make your personal email your primary and send an email to the developers of the apps you've purchased and say "Hey, I bought this app from you on my work email ([email protected]) but this is my personal email and I was wondering if I could repurchase that app and have it refunded."

At this point, that is really the best option I can see for you. Sorry.

I have seen this before and this is what I did to resolve it. Go to gmail.com from your computer, login, and click on Contacts on the left hand side. Export them and save that file on your computer. Make sure it is saved there. Go back to your GMail contacts and select all of them and erase all of them. From your phone, erase all contacts and try to sync with your GMail than. The error should go away. Go back from you computer and import those contacts again. Initiate a sync from your phone and you should be good to go!

No. It uses the GMail that you setup the device with.

First and foremost thanks for helping us out...I have been trying to talk to someone on Tech Support and been disconnected 5 times....

Anyway, I am running a Corporate POP3 Email. However, when I forward emails with attachments, the attachments do not get forwarded?

Frankly this is rediculus. Everyone one in corporate american has to forward attachments from there phone. Why is it so difficult on a Droid..How do I fix this?
