What are Your First Impessions Of The Galaxy Nexus?

The OG Droid on par with retina display??? Comparing the display specs on paper the nexus screen, rezound screen and the retina display blow it out of the water...however in the end everyone has their own favorite screen...I just mentioned this so people don't automatically think the nexus screen is bad

Also I do believe there is a way to disable the search bar somehow

supercharged modified liquid 3.1 w/turbocharged 3g
Pete's 5 slot lv 1.25GHz w/ kickasskernel tweaks
19.9 linpack score
1856 quadrant score

I'm not saying it is bad, but I can definitely see a pixel grid, where you cannot with the OG. The Nexus screen is however miles above the Bionic or DX2, where the pentile grids are blatantly obvious.

settings > apps > all > google search > disable

but you can't put anything in that space

I don't want to disable the app, just get it off the top of every screen. I guess this is just the way ICS handles Google Search. In GB/Froyo the search bar was widget, which could be taken off and the search feature could still be triggered by a hardware key (which obviously the GNex doesn't have) or a shortcut. I guess I'll just have to get used to it.

I was kind of bummed they didn't pre install that also. I can hardly text without it anymore. Anybody have the link to install it? I did it on the OG, but that was along time ago. I wouldn't even know where to look anymore.

It couldn't be pre-installed as the GN is a google experience device. Swype works with OEMs (like Motorola) to get installed on a device, and Google just wouldn't let Sammy pre-install anything.

That being said, you can go to swype.com, but (after having just read through their forums), Swype is not supported on ICS as of yet. They are working on it, primarily for some new phones coming out early next year that will have ICS, so there is still no guarantee it will run on the GN. Right now Swype is very screen-size dependant, though they are trying to get away from that. They said they expected to have a beta version in the next month or two. :frown:

I too miss my swype. I am not a pecker. :p

I didn't like that also, and also couldn't live with just 5 homescreens (too used to 7). So I installed Go Launcher and it works great. Doesn't have the search bar across the top, and allows up to 9 homescreens. You lose the ICS app drawer, but I had no problem with long-pressing on a screen to add a widget anyway. Plus Go gives you 3 "dock" bars across the bottom, which I like.

So that's an option if you don't have a problem using an alternate launcher.

The one thing I have found a do not like, and it's not a real big deal at all, but you can't "show only contacts with phone numbers" in your contacts list. I have a lot of contacts where I just have their e-mail and I had to manually delete them from my contacts list which was a bit of a pain. Again not a big deal but I hope it's something they implement in a future update!

The Headphones that come with the phone is cheap!!! Listening to music sounds horrible through them. But it sounds great through my big JVC Head phones. I will use that instead. Great sound through my Bluetooth head set also. Speaker phone is not that great. What is the name up the app to improve the speaker volume?

I think someone recommended volume control+

To be or not to be........................wait what was the question? This signature has been Tapatalk approved.

I haven't even attempted to take the battery cover off in fear of snapping it in half or bending so it doesn't seat properly.

I've been really lucky with this - I found that just a small pry under the top lip opens enough for me to run my fingernail around the edges, and it pops off without bending at all. Now the first time I snapped it back ON, I though I was going to break the clips, but surprisingly, no.

Lol me too, luckily mine has run perfectly. I actually love the feel of the battery cover, but it definitely looks too thin when not on the phone.

Ok, so what are the chances of getting this horrible camera fixed via a software update? Tried Camera Zoom FX, and while it's easier to take a pic since it focuses/snaps all with one tap, the quality is still the same, crappy. Is the problem hardware? Or software?
