What have YOU done with Tasker?

Doesn't work...my profiles are as follows:

[1] Event - Display On - Variable set %DISPLAYSTATUS to 1
[2] Event - Display Off - Variable set %DISPLAYSTATUS to 0
[3] Event - Button:Camera (Stop Event)
Variable Value - %DISPLAYSTATUS matches 1 Pop up menu of apps to open (this works fine)
[4] Event - Button:Camera (Stop Event)
Variable Value - %DISPLAYSTATUS matches 0 Display - Turn ON (this doesn't work)

Any ideas?

Ok so I set this up and am having the same issue. I set up a test app to see if the variable was changing and it is.

I found this
"Behaviour When Device Off

By default, after a few seconds of the screen being off Android will power down the device and thus running tasks will be paused.
In the Task Properties dialog, it can be specified that a task should keep running."

But I can't find the Task Property page which allows me to keep it running.

I found that page but it doesn't seem to make a difference. Time for me to run to class but I will look into it more tonight.

Auto GPS problem

I tried to create a Profile that turns on GPS when I open Maps or Navigation. Maps works fine, but for some reason it doesn't recognize Navigation, whether I go to it from within Maps or separately. I either get the "GPS is disabled: Show locating settings?" dialog or "Searching for GPS." Anyone else have this problem?

Yes I do, and it happens because Navigation checks to see if GPS is enabled before Tasker enables it.

The way to fix it is to create a new task that enables GPS waits ten seconds then opens Navigation. Then create a widget that opens that task.

If you need help with this let me know.

Your GPS isn't being used Unless you open an app that needs it so there is really no point of turning it off. At least it does this for the D1

Anyone know a plug-in that lets you toggle when the phone uses Google voice to make calls, or uses the main number?

Everyone I work with has my GV number, so at work I want it to default to the GV for outbound calls. But when I'm at home, I want to use my VZW number. I tried the "Locale Google Voice Set Plug", but it doesn't seem to have the ability to toggle the calling mode, unless I'm missing something.

I tried anything I could think of to do this with Tasker, and failed on every turn. Once I found out about Voice Plus, which does exactly this, I configured that, and never have to think about it again.

I finally purchased Tasked and I must say its cool but overwhelming. I saw the post regarding turning off ringers based on time...simple enough. However I want that done only on Monday thru Friday. Now when I add the contexts do I put the days first then time or reverse? Or does it not matter the order? Also, since I need both day & time which one do I put the task of turning off the ringer?

I hope I explained that right...thanks guys!

Any way you could go into detail on setting that up in Tasker, I also tried and failed............I just couldn't seem to figure it out.

Thanks in advance.

Also easy enough to do. Just add a second context to your time based profile, only select Day. Change the May of Month drop-down to be Day of Week, and start picking M-F. Set this to be every month, and you are golden. Works like a charm for me, and is one of the reason I preach the Tasker Gospel whenever I can. ;)

That's what I thought but I was using Timeriffic and the order you placed everything mattered...But when I add the Day context it won't let me save it blank without tasks included...if that makes sense?

Thanks again!

Hmm, odd. Let's see if I can document this well enough for someone else to recreate.

Profile: Work ringer off
Context 1: Work Time
From 9:00
To 16:29
Context 2: Work Days
Months (all)
Day of Week
Mon - Fri
Task
+ Audio > Silent Mode Vibrate
Exit Task
+ Audio > Silent Mode Off

So, for me, Mon-Fri, from the hours of 9:00 to the end of 16:29 (for all intents, 16:30), my phone slips into vibrate mode. On weekends, it stays in normal audible ring.

I could do other things during that time, too, but I'm keeping it simple for now.

Thanks again phydeaux98038. I was getting complicated and not using the premade Silent Mode...I was only turning off the notification but keeping the ringer on...but I like your way better. I noticed when in the Day Context you can't select every day AND every month...if you want every day you just don't add the Day Context...then it will occur just on the time every day on it's own...

This can get quite challenging if you try to think too much with this program!

Thanks

Very confusing sometimes. There is a lot of rope to hang yourself with here. ;)

You may be right about selecting the months and days. It's been a while since I set that one up, and found out earlier today that I was also a few revisions behind the times (1.0.8, not 1.0.10).
