After seeing this weeks Best Buy circular list the upcoming Thunderbolt at $299 on a 2-year; I've officially lost my interest in this overpriced single-core device.

I called my BB earlier about the price and they said it's regulated by VZ. He also said the exact price will not be determined until the actual launch. In my mind that says either less or more $$'s

I called my local BB yesterday and they told me that the price will be $249.99 as advertised but told me to bring in the ad that said $249.99 if there is a change in the price and they will honor it.

Yea,, everyone wants 30 a month. Same as 3g.. but u can use 12gb a month on 3g and not get overage. Wait till jr runs up a 400 data bill.

Uh oh.

His tweet doesnt make complete sense. 3g on phones is unlimited. only the mobile broadband devices are capped. we will have to wait and see.
At one point "unlimited" 3g was, in fact, really capped at 5GB--did that change and become truly unlimited?

Currently unlimited. We've seen how fast they change policies.

what size was the battery?
The screenshot did not say, but I'm fairly certain it is the 2750 mAh battery and door designed by HTC (Part # 35H00149-01M). It will be expensive, at first anyway. HTCPedia is pricing it at $70, but they won't have it until sometime around 4/8/11.

Note that an even larger battery & door for the Evo is now available for much, much less--it won't fit the TB, but it gives us an indication that the price should come down before too long.

well $70 is worth it for me, if it is 2750mah. it would make it the {almost} perfect phone.
Glad I was able to give you good news. Personally, I usually don't like the extra bulk and appearance of most big batteries & and bulging backs. Instead, I typically carry a couple of spare regular size batteries in my briefcase or suit. Sometimes one of my spares is also an extended life battery. I travel a lot so I end up buying a lot of batteries, I guess.

Not entirely true. It's not capped but VZW reserves the right to cancel contracts or charge extra if people rack up "obscene" amounts of data. Basically if they see like 30gb in a single month they assume you're tethering w/o paying for it and/or downloading torrents and will penalize you. But you can go above 5gb.

Verizon said they would cap the top 5% of heavy data users when the Verizon iPhone came out. They also have the right to manipulate coming and going data. You can be shutdown if you do things outside of:

(i) Internet browsing; (ii) e-mail;(iii) intranet access (including accessing corporate intranets, e-mail and individual productivity applications made available by your company);(iv) uploading, downloading and streaming of audio, video and games; and (v) voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP).

Throtting "unlimited" data isn't new. Every carrier does it to a certain extent.

Towers use the same principle as highway. They expect only a certain about of people to be on them all the time. To keep the traffic down during "rush hour", Verizon will limit you and put you in a slow lane while others enjoy "unlimited" data transfers..

The days of "unlimited" data are over.

Back on topic...

When was the article about VZW getting shipments next week made? Because if it was before today that could mean this week. Just wondering. If not it seems like it's going to be March 10th :[
If LTE is more than $40/month I'll have to wait for the Inc 2. Hopefully it really is $30/month :]

Here's the deal on price, before everyone goes postal. The Minimum Advertised Price (MAP) for this device is $250. That means no retailer will be allowed to advertise this device for less than that (ie. you will not see a $200 TB advertisement anywhere, but you may see a higher advertisement, like $300). Retailers can sell it for more if they choose to. Even though Best Buy might advertise $300, if you are smart and knowledgeable you should be able to get it from them for only $250. Simply bring in an advertisement from a Verizon store (not an online retailer) that says $250 and they will price-match it as long as the particular ad is effective. As far as their own previous Best Buy advertisements that say $250, those ads also have a range of effective dates, so they might try to pull that on you to disallow it, or they may actually be cool and end up honoring them, it will probably vary according to whom you are dealing with at the store. You certainly can try that, but I would say to bring a VZW ad that says $250 just to be safe.

I have it in my cars trunk along with the new case, cigarette lighter charger, pre order documents and screen protector. I am definately way too obsessed over this launch

I was told if I brought the Best Buy ad stating $249.99 they would honor it even if the price had changed due to the range of effective dates. If they did not honor it, the woman told me to call Customer Service and ask for her.

I'll probably bring a Verizon one just to be safe though :D

As i have previously stated i have been to quite a few local corporate stores in my area and everyone i talked to, managers and counter workers, were saying the 28th. I'm enthusiastic that we'll see or hear something then.

When it comes to the battery life, i am not in a 4g area until later this year. Honestly, my Droid1 gets stuck in a dock right next to me every night because it's my alarm clock. So as long as it lasts through the day; it's gonna be on the charger every night anyway.

I agree that i dont think that if there was some major issue with the battery that the TB would have even gotten this far. I still believe that it was either logistical issues or the iphone sales not being what they wanted that slowed the release. But, who knows, and we may never know.

Dual core would be nice, but all i really need is a bigger screen, more memory space, and something that is easy to root. My Droid1 has been a great phone, but my screen is starting to look smaller, or my fingers are getting fatter. :)

I just got a Xoom and it's promising that Motorola left it open for developers. But as of yet, no word on that.

TB gets my vote because i love listening to music during the day so dolby speaker system is a plus, a kickstand is awesome, 32 gig included is great, it has alot of pluses, and only one BIG minus... WHERE IS IT?

My opinion... sorry for the long post its all been building in the last 5000 posts i have read over the last few months. :icon_eek:

I would like to share your optimism about the 28th, but from my visit to the main corp store in my market it's not happening. I spoke with the Manager for about 30 minutes on a few products and most importantly got a chance to check out the TB dummy unit which I have to say was a great size, weight compared to the DX which I hated the over all feel.

Anyways, she was good enough to say that they have absolutely zero, nada ThunderBolts locked in the back, they have seen the dates go by as we have. Her current estimates were the 3rd or 10th (she doesn't read the forums). She was very helpful and she did confirm she had also heard the battery issue.

My take is simple give user a regular and full size battery at time of order and let them know a firmware update will be coming after launch to address any battery issues. Besides users like us will be running a custom ROM anyways, right.
