I'm a Chris Paul fan. He will be in the HoF and he does alot of charities and youth programs outside of basketball, standup guy. I don't know if y'all seen it but the way that guy loved his grandpa and losing him was tough to watch. Classy guy and one of the fiercest competitors in the league, doesn't talk trash and loves the game. Sad but inspiring and amazing to hear what he did, get your kleenex ready:great move for the Clippers, he will help the Clippers more than any other team he was rumored to be going to!
Agreed, but many (inexperienced or wagoners) are already making such comparisons. The game isn't played at nearly the same level as the 90s and they won't beat that dynamic duo of Stockton/Malone, but they can certainly make a name for themselves as one of the best 1-4 combos. It's gonna be fun to watch, watching each player individually was fun, now put the two together and you're gonna get some highlight reels. Everyone is on the Clippers wagon now, but I'm in it for cp3 and Griffin, not my fault they're on the same teamNo way Paul and Griffin end up like Stockton and Malone. I understand that they will be amazing together but they won't make each other two of the fifty greatest players to ever play. Or two of the seventy five best players ever. It will be fun to watch though. Which is a first for the Clippers.

Not just that, but the game itself has changed so much. There are literally too many things to list, but I will say this. The athletes of today are for more athletic than the 90's, but the game has been changed so much would today's athletes stand a chance in the 90s? I think they would and actually beat many of the superstars today. Many argue MJ in his prime would absolutely tear up today's NBA standards. I personally agree with that statement as 90s NBA was far more physical than today's NBA, in my honest opinion.Honestly though sports technology has changed so much you cannot possibly compare stars of today to even stars of the 90's. Athletes right now are the absolute best they have ever been, they are in the best shape ever, faster and stronger, play at a higher level, overall competition level is higher. Paul and Griffin today would school the 90's Stockton and Malone but the real question is how would Stockton and Malone do today if they were in their prime the same time as Paul and Griffin.
Haha yeah kinda agree, wouldn't mind see maybe a 6" increase on rim height, but then that'd be too big of a change for everyone. Court size could increase, but then many would complain about phsyical advantages. My teacher did bring up a very good point about the current nba when talking one day. The court is too small for the players/basket is too low, the players have just gotten so big!
Pretty much guards used to be our height (5-10) and were still competitive. Now, your point guard is what 6-3? And most (if not all) your big men are 6-11+ he suggested widing the court (have you seen how much space players have when pulling up for that corner 3, not to mention with they're size 15 shoes?) And raising the basket by a foot. I wonder what that would do to the game?

What makes me mad about today's NBA the most are player's egos. Everyone, even if you're the 8th option on the bench wants to make their money. I understand it's your job, but you gotta earn it. You look at players in the 80's and early-mid 90's, completely unselfish and where basketball was actually team ball. Now you got one guy dribbling the whole court while the other 4 watch.I agree its changed a lot, but players in the 90's were ten times smarter and more fundamentally sound than the guys now. That's why Stockton Malone were so successful. And I also agree that MJ in his prime would absolutely face roll anyone in todays NBA. Athleticism doesn't always make up for everything that might be lacking. Also, look how much better the role players were back then. Everyone on the team had a responsibility and they did it! Now days, only six guys on the team are any good and the rest are just kinda there.

Couldn't agree more, but even back in the day the bigs needed help, like everyone does.Yea....but back then there was what, one dominant big man on a team, and that's the team that always won. Every championship Laker team had that one Hall of Fame big man, same with the Celtics, and they won because they had that ONE big guy the rest of the league didn't.
Now its like, they're all big, and every team has atleast one 7ft homie on the team. They might not all be good, but that takes away one factor, now just having one dominant guy isn't gonna win you the championship (ORLANDO is the perfect example of this ) now you actually have to form a team around your big guy

Excellent comparison with Howard. The only problem I see with Howard is his post moves. He really has no post move outside of spinning and dunking, he's all power and no finesse. If that guy develops a hook shot, holy smokes, definitely be unstoppable. He's trying to get a midrange bank shot, but I personally think he should be working on some sort of hook shot. He got a couple good moves from Hakeem though:hail:
Best player, wouldn't make that case yet...best center? Yes he is in my book.Dwight with a hook shot? He'd be the best player in the NBA by far. You can claim he's the best now but the problem with him is he's like Antonio cromartie from the jets (football lol) all brawn no brain. They're just very athletic people
Old school players were smart more than anything.
Best player, wouldn't make that case yet...best center? Yes he is in my book.
And yes, old school players had much higher basketball IQ. The pure athleticism of today's athletes can sometimes outweigh basketball IQ though. Players like Steve Nash, Kidd, and Kobe now prove that smarts and fundamentals can still make you compete at the highest levels.
And what's wrong with football? I may have a Mavericks sig, but I support my Eagles just as much, even in this disaster of a season.
