Wireless Moot

I had to do a manual reboot as well, no big deal but the phone also hung up big time after flashing the file/rebooting and had to pull the battery and cable for a few seconds. Thank goodness it was during a reboot and not a process. Not quite sure what happened there but Im now happily running .247 and rooted. Thanks again Team HoB!

I too had to manually shut down and re-boot into AP Fastboot. However...The HoB prompts warned me of this and made it so I didn't poop my pants when things didn't go quite as planned. I also didn't have to come running to the forums to PM you or sound off on here..

Yea, I don't know what it is about rebooting to AP Fastboot mode. No matter which method I choose it works for some but not for others. Since it doesn't work for me and the other method does, I'll be fixing it shortly. :D

So, Sam, I'm going to ask the newbie questions since someone has to do it, when up grading to one of your many new releases of Hob, should we uninstall the previous one (just asking in a meek voice and tone)?

Hey Sam. I have always done all my updates from Linux, but I was thinking of giving HOB a try just to see how it works. One question I have is I have obviously looked through all the HOB and HOB FAQ page. Do you have a section that shows what the screen prompts are going to be and how to answer them? I'm not to worried about needing them, but I never saw it and was wondering if that was causing some of the confusion I keep seeing people have on here.

Here's what I did and it was recommended about 150 pages ago somewhere. Keep your phone UNPLUGGED and fire up the HoB. Do a dry run and let the program run through each screen and each prompt of "Y" or "N". You'll get the feel for it and know what to expect when you do it for the real deal. It really is that easy.

Okay, here's the deal. .905 to .246 last Friday. Had horrid battery life all weekend so yesterday decided to FDR (I had cleared cache during upgrade to .246) to see if that made any difference. So far that doesn't seem to have made much difference with the battery, but maybe it's too early to tell. The other problem that has cropped up is that i no longer have 4G. I'm pretty sure that I had it off and on in between .246 and the FDR, but certainly have never had it after the FDR. Any suggestions?

That's what I was WAS going to mention before I realized there's now .247. I updated to 246 on Friday and my battery seemed worse and I wanted to SCREAM about the data. It was in and out more than it ever was before, and 4G would just drop. I haven't checked out a map, but I'm thinking Lincoln Financial Field should be soaked in 4G.

For the record, I was on RDS 5.7. Does this mean HoB 7.6 is on the way?

No. Install over the top of your existing install.

I may need a linux or mac volunteer later. BUT, I have requirements. You need to be WELL versed in shell scripting and you *MUST* have access to Windows so you can run the HoB in case things go horribly wrong. I'm looking for someone to test a script I'm writing for the linux/mac crowd. It's not finished yet and is the *BAREST* of script functionality. It does not do nearly all that the HoB does and requires a to of manual crap to be done (copying the update, booting into AP Fastboot, etc). All it does is flash system, preinstall, webtop from 905 and boot.img from the update you're attempting to install. I'm hoping to add some logic to at least find the updates and allow you to select the one you wanna install but I may just prompt for it. We'll see. I have no means of testing it at all so there will be some back and forth on this one until it works. PM me if you wanna be my volunteer.

This has been an absolutely crazy week for me. Grandmother's in the hospital, had a math test, had to set up equipment for my mom's accordion meeting, been playing with my OG Droid, and now I have to catch up in 3D modelling II before I fail that class as well. xD

So I won't be around much this week... I'll probably try to install 247 tonight though maybe.

Twice in one day, are you trying to kill me ya friggin B@#$trd????!!!!?????:biggrin:

It's a one line change to the script. Calm down. :)

Better yet can you remote into my computer and hit the keys for me? I have both RDP and VNC prefer the VNC so I can see you type Y or N? :icon_eek:

Seriously I get the feeling people would love it if I did. NOT....gonna.....happen. Ever. I've made the process so damn easy now as it is. Those who can read and follow directions shockingly have zero issues. Those who don't pay attention, fail to read, or make assumptions about what they think they know end up on my support todo list...
