YEAH baby! My Demo will be here today!

Per instructions on the first post, click "Search this Thread" and type in "battery." Lots of discussion on the subject. I am finding 8+ hours on a charge in moderate-heavy use, minimal talk time.

Without LTE. Makes you really wonder how big an impact LTE is going to have on the phone....

Can you try something for me tonight --
Charge it up before you go to bed and then unplug it. I'm curious how much charge will be left if you don't plug it in overnight and it's just sitting idle with no use.

I ask because I rarely use my phone for hours on end without a charger nearby. But it's not unusual for me to leave my phone unplugged and idle on my kitchen counter for really extended periods of time while I'm at home.

This will be heavily affected if apps have been left at their defaults and set to check every 15 mins, every hour, etc. I turn my apps down to auto-check every 2 hours and noticed it makes a big difference in battery.

Are you a gamer? How about testing out the N64 app? Plays smooth as butter on the gTablet with Tegra 2, but most games except Mario and a few others are slooow on the Inc and Droid X. Stuttery and slow.

Not much of a gamer on my phone, I have a PS3 and Wii that I use if I want to game nowadays. ;)

I have no reason to believe that they wouldn't be smooth and fast on the TBolt though... everything else on this phone is 100% faster and smoother compared to my DX.

Much harder to bring the PS3 and Wii to the bathroom! :)

Johnboy if got time log into market.android.com and see if the thunderbolt was linked to user id, might show both the Thunderbolt and your Dx both. Could also be that MyBackup may ulitize something silimiar to AppBrain Webinstaller app. Just my thoughts as to how this may been transfered for you.

I don't see where is shows the phone(s) on that site... am I missing something obvious?

:yr1: Good Morning JB,
I've searched the forum and I can't find any info so here goes. Have you tried the FM radio? How's the sound quality (ear buds and speaker). Sensitivity? If you have an Aux port in the car have you tried it?

Just tested it out. Sound quality is what you would expect for FM radio (I have Sirius/XM with the app on my phone, so I don't ever listen to FM anymore...)

It auto-scans for all channels when it starts up. Controls are simple enough (List of channels, Previous Preset, Next Preset, Change Preset name). When you hit menu, you can choose to mute the radio, switch between mono and stereo, switch from speaker to headphones, and then "Scan & Save" which will rescan and save the presets. If you hit the Home button or the back button, it will continue to play the radio and puts an icon in your status bar. You have to go into the app and hit the power button in order to turn it off.

I did plug it into my AUX port this morning and it performs comperable to my Droid X, the only issue is that I don't have a car dock for the TBolt.

I hesitate to give my reviews of headphone/ear bud listening as there are so many variables on quality of headsets, etc. that it really gets merky. I have a set of Premium Zune earbuds and SkullCandy headphones and there is no distortion or degredation in sound on either of those.

How does Pandora sound with regular headphones you'd risk using while working or jogging, compared to mp3s/wavs or whatever higher quality sounding music that was saved to your TB? Also have you tried any games, I guess other than Pet Society which doesn't work and how that compares to the Droid X?

That's really more of a question about Pandora vs. MP3 files than it is about the TBolt. The quality of the sound through the headphones/earbuds all depends on your headphone/earbud quality. Obviously, streaming audio via Pandora isn't going to sound nearly as good as a 192 bitrated MP3 file.

I have tried only Angry Birds and the Let's Golf Game Demo that came with the TBolt. Both perform just fine, though I don't think they are too intensive. The load times seem a bit shorter with the TBolt in general.

This thread is the only thing keeping me sane. I gave up wondering and now just focus on what it does and how well it does. Johnboy has been providing some of the best and most invaluable experiences.

I do appreciate all of your work.

I second this, this has been nice learning about the phone. It's kind of hands on before you have it.

Johnboy go to market.android.com and sign in like you would sign into your google account toward the far right side of the page. Once you sign in it will have to far right selection of my market account-my settings-so forth, select my market account in should show you list of all apps when purchased in the past and current. Best thing about this you can select options next to orders and can see all your android devices. plus even give them a nickname for each device. Hope this helps and if you need help just let me know?!!

It does appear in there (as I have added my Gmail account on the TBolt), but I don't think it has anything to do with the Application Mappings working on the TBolt. Basically, what happened was that I backed up all my installed applications (free & purchased) from my Droid X to my SD Card using MyBackup Pro. I then put the SD card in the TBolt, installed MyBackup Pro and did a restore of the Data and Apps. So, the applications are installed on the TBolt, however up until Saturday, when I went into the My Apps section of the market on the TBolt, it only showed the Apps that I had purchased or the ones that I downloaded and installed from the Market using the TBolt. (So even though I had ~40 apps restored and working on the phone, they didn't appear in the market so I couldn't DL updates). For some reason, all the apps now appear in My Apps on the TBolt.

i know this has sort of been answered but did you by some crazy chance miss Swype being preloaded? Far fetch but maybe thats why the beta didnt install right? forgive me and dont take this in an insulting way i just find it hard to believe swype is not pre-installed.

thanks, and again no intention to insult your intelligence just wanted some clarification if possible..

SWYPE is only preloaded on the Motorola Droids (my DX and the Droid 2 I know for sure.)

I actually uninstalled SWYPE Beta on the phone and re-installed it, so far, so good. I did have to disable it once and re-enable it because for some reason, the SWYPE doesn't take (meaning: I SWYPE a word and it doesn't recognize any letters or the word and just beeps at me).

I prefer SWYPE to SlideIT, but worst case if I can't get the Beta SWYPE working, will purchase and use SlideIT once I buy my TBolt.

Hey Johnboy, Had to register just to say thanks for all your info.
In regards to Swype- I have the Beta on my Incredible- I find that EVERY time I turn off my phone I have to reenable swype ( or it dosn't Swype) Just long press in a text box- enable htc keyboard. Then again long press and enable Swype again- works every time for me, so dont have to reinstall. Will work fine as long as my phone doesn't get turned off again. Try that and see if it works on the Bolt that way
