YEAH baby! My Demo will be here today!

I'd tell you to use twiiter and ask BMX how his has one and yours doesn't, but he is off of twitter for lent. You could try him at his blog,

. He has been using the Tbolt for at least 1-2 months so he should be able to tell you about it. I can also pm you his gmail account.
Sigh - Why does it matter?

Because everyone who has used LTE on the phones say it's a huge battery drain. If you can toggle it off, you can increase your battery life by a lot. It's just like I do now with 3G. If I'm at home I use wifi and my battery life is increased to 1/3 - 1/2 vs. using 3G. Sorry if that's not something anyone is interested in, didn't realize my post would cause anyone pain. Just thought I'd research it as some people were asking about it.
My battery life is much better with 3G than WiFi.

The Thunderbolt seems to do best with WiFi turned on on the 3G connectivity. Over the weekends when connected at 3G (voice) and WiFi (Data) in my house, the battery lasts a few hours longer than when I am at work on 3G only (full signal strength).

Not to feed the rumor mill but my corp account manger called me this morning and said he's waiting on the OK from his superiors to release some information on the Thunderbolt today....again not sure it's much to go on but at least it feels like it's gonna be sooner rather than later....

Again thank you WorldOfJohnboy for all your answers and feedback....I can't wait to give this phone a try myself...

I hope that I have been informative and relatively "un-biased" in my posts (though admittedly that was difficult as I love the phone).

Though there are a few shortcomings on the pre-production model that I have, I think the finished product will be a bit better. I'd like to believe that VZW watched this thread and took both your suggestions as well as my honest critiques and perhaps either on the release of the phone or shortly thereafter, some of the things said will be implemented.

Thanks for helping us all. Hopefully we get our phone this week. You made the phone 'real' for us. Thanks again.

I've noticed this battery life behavior on my incredible as well. Seems the phone turns off the 3g data connection automatically when it has a wifi connection. The way I can tell is if I send an mms when connected to wifi, the 3g symbol will turn on while sending the picture and turn back off when it's done sending.

Having the phone keep a cell connection for calls but use wifi for all non-vzw data needs makes a noticeable difference in my battery life. Just another thing to test out once we get the final version of the TB. Will be interesting to see how it handles the 4g connection when wifi is on.

Didn't catch on to this thread until later on but cheers to johnboy for his insight. Thanks!

That's because it turns off the Verizon data connection while on wifi as there's no point in having 2 data sources active. Guessing it'll probably do the same with LTE since they won't be using voLTE yet. Using wifi is a lot more efficient than the phone constantly trying to find the best 3G data signal.

Where is a claim from a person using a phone on EVDO and LTE saying that LTE uses more power than EVDO? Any forum, anywhere.

Going by what BMX (black_man_x) has said in his twitter & a few of his posts on AC forums, he has basically said that any of the 4G phones will have worse battery life on LTE. I've been following his twitter for a couple of months, & he has referenced using the Tbolt, the Stealth, Revolution, & the Bionic. So far his info has been pretty good.

Besides that, look at Sprint and their WiMax 4G. It started out as being horrible for the Evo battery, but after some firmware revisions from what I have read it's tolerable now.

Wimax is irrelevant. All it shares in common with LTE is a marketing skin that it is the fourth generation of data transport technology for the carrier.

Links to AC posts? He has said they will have worse life, or used them and found that they actually do? Details where?

Sorry to digress but a bit ago there was a discussion about your attempts to restore apps from a backup. As I recall, you used My Backups Pro and achieved success however you had to manually install each free market app? Is that correct?

Does anyone have any further insight? I've always used Titanium Backup on my rooted Droid and it worked like a charm across the many ROMs. We are of the mind though that Titanium won't do its thing until the Bolt gets root access? Hopefully that is only a matter of days (if not hours) after release but I'm hoping to get the Bolt up and running replacing my Droid ASAP so i thought I'd get the latest scoop.

Try looking for him yourself. You can try black_man_x or the Mobile Panda. He has a twitter account and a blog site. Otherwise do a search on AC forums or on adroid forums. I spent half an hour the other night picking out twitter posts about the 4G toggle widget & some people seemed to think it was worhtless. I'm not going to waste my time doing it again.

I did use MyBackup Pro to restore my apps, but as someone stated, without Root Access, the Market Links were not active, so I would have had to manually "re-install" each App to get them to appear in the "My Apps" section of the market.

For whatever reason a few days after performing the restore all my apps appeared in the My Apps section on my TBolt... not sure how or why, but I am not complaining!
