i cant wait for 2.1 either but if i never get it atleast i still have a great phone.

I like the Droid, too, but my phone is sluggish and unpredictable. I was hoping 2.1 might solve this, and if not I'll have to hack. But I really wanted to go the simple official OTA route. That's why I'm impatient about it. For me 2.1 isn't about bells and whistles, but making my phone behave the way I thought it would when I bought it.

Example: I'll start typing a phone number into the phone app. Nothing happens. Then 5 seconds later it catches up and spews out everything I had typed.

Same thing with the unlock pattern. Sometimes it doesn't respond, then all of a sudden tries to catch up all at once.

So for me 2.1 isn't an upgrade, it's (hopefully) a fix. Every day it's delayed is another day I'm irritated at my Droid.
If your phone is acting sluggish right now, that's not normal and an update may not help it. Your problem probably exist with an app or two you have downloaded that isn't playing nice.

I suggest if you have a task killer app or virus protection to reemove that. If that doesn't fix it do a hard factory data reset. See how the Droid performs with no apps in it. Working fine? Great, restore your apps a little each day until you find the problem app.

My wife just got the HTC Droid Eris , wow , so much faster and responsive , I remember when the Moto Droid was like that (before the 2.0.1 update) , now the Moto Droid seems clunky and slow compared to the HTC Eris , shame .
Hope the 2.1 fixes the sluggishness of the Moto Droid .
2.1 coming soon , ROFL . :icon_eek:
Been a long time between a few days and soon , 2.1 saga continues . :motdroidhoriz:

Here goes nuttin...

This is my first post, for what its worth my two cents.
Like most people on the forum, when it come to the droid phone, it simply cant be beat.
As far as the elusive 2.1 goes I too would love to see this update, but I refuse to lose sleep over it, just fix the little quirks.
I think Motorola, Verizon and Google have been very dishonest to say the least about the update
This update has been issued to several Android phones, I too would like to know why it cant be done on our droid phones more quickly.
They have had plenty of time to set this update into motion but yet they make their promises and make humble excuses that now ring hollow.
Seems to me they could have started from scratch with a brand new 2.1 update and still have had time to put it out. I cant quit put my finger on what’s happing with the update but like some of I smell a rat, this stinks to high heaven.
All I ask Motorola, Google and Verizon to do is to stop the B.S., put up or shut up time enough is enough already.
I don’t need a feel sorry story for these companies and how hard it is to write the 2.1 software update or they want to get it perfect.
Its not like they have two or three people working on this project. Or, oh wait its a server problem.
These are professionals working on this project they should know what their doing, if not its high time to find people that know what their doing!!!
Win lose or draw with this Motorola Droid update, just stop the and the deceitful crap already, your not dealing with a bunch of first graders.
I don’t clam to be a gifted phone tech. however I' bet cha there are some very tech savvy people on the this forum that feel a little like I do.

Ill keep my beloved droid and wait patiently for the update, just stop jerking us around that’s the part I hate very, very much.
No, I wont be milking the cow, goat or the horse for that matter that’s not for me (it would be a train wreck for me to try anyway lol).
I’m done venting now. Pardon my grammar, I come by it honestly being from Texas.
Wow I feel much better, the clock on the wall tells me its Miller time.
Thanks to the forum and the great post that I read. Good day to one and all!!!

BGR reporting the possibility of the HTC Hero (Sprint) getting 2.1 by April 9th. I wonder if they use Bitfone to push their OTA's???

I agree, anybody that has a stock Droid that is sluggish and non-responsive needs to do a factory reset. It is very easy to do and it makes everything fresh and quick again. Do it now it will take you 10 minutes. Of course you will need to reload your programs, but that's no big deal.

2.1 will also help, but you want to do the factory reset before you get the update. Do it now.....

I can honestly say that this issue (for me) went away with 2.1.

Thankfully. I was getting tired of periodically trying to figure out why the heck my phone was crawling.

2.1 cured these things for me also, but it was because I did a complete nandroid reinstall I think.

A while back when I went back to a fresh stock install my phone ran very well and smoothly. Better than it used to before when I was stock for a while.

It never hurts to do a fresh install once and awhile.

Well it doesn't seem like 200,000 updates went out today. As far as the statement of the update taking longer than expected, I don't think they have any idea when it's coming out either. I would bet Moto and Verizon will be just as surprised as us when it goes out... lol
