5.5.5.893 FXZ .901/.902 compatible and.902 update

There is a userdata image in the original fxz that preserves data, it is not there to wipe data. In the original fxz xml there is no erase user data command.

Again...I never stated that the image file was erasing anything, I stated that the erase userdata command was what was wiping data, you claimed that command did not, now you're saying it does.... that's why I asked you to answer why you go to the welcome screen after running the FXZ...
You don't have to admit it, I know what you were trying to imply, and I was basically clarifying it while giving you a way out to explain what exactly you meant originally...

I've just run sargeantmajord's FXZ, but only with my added edits of deleting the erase emstorage and flash emstorage commands, as well as deleting the emstorage.img file, 'AND added back in the erase userdata command, and coming from Eclipse v2.1 it flashed to stock 5.5.893, erased all 'DATA' ...

Who wrote the original targa XML, do you know?

Oh and BTW...the edits to the emstorage erase and flash commands...deleting them...leaves the sdcard partitoin completely intact...

You lost me. I added the erase userdata command to MY edited xml. The original fxz does not have that command. It uses the userdata image to preserve data. As for the OP's fxz, I have no idea what he did to his. I have not used it or downloaded it.

The original targa XML already has that erase userdata command in it.... anyways now it's drawing out and unproductive, main thing I wanted you to state was that the erase userdata command was indeed deleting data, like wiping... you originally was saying that it didn't and the only way was to add in an erase 'data' command was what would do it....

the point I'm making is that those two things are one and the same, you were originally implying they were not...

This is the original xml. where do you see the erase userdata command? http://dl.dropbox.com/u/29432364/default_flash_targa.xml

If you were the one to add a erase userdata to a version of the targa XML that didn't have that command, then why the double talk when you clearly knew I was referring to erase 'USER'data command but your were referring to erase 'data' command, trying to imply that wasn't the same thing...

regardless, I know what I meant from the very beginning, as for what you meant yourself, whatever, members can read for themselves.......

main thing here is that they aren't fed misinformation...... so as long as they know what is erasing the 'data'...the 'erase userdata' command...it's all good...

Also, perhaps deleting the flash cdt.bin command in your XML that causes the invalid CDT errors??... this .893 FXZ flashes the new cdt.bin file and there appears to be no cdt errors ...

The cdt cannot be reverted. So if the OP added the 902 cdt to his fix, then someone that uses it and goes to 901, they will get the cdt error after flashing the 901 update. I don't get a cdt failure because when i flash back to 866, I do both 893 and 902 back to back in recovery and I get no error. If I was to flash back to 901, I would have to moto-fastboot the 902 cdt.bin. If I flash back to 893, I update to 902 and also don't receive the cdt failure.
