.901 Compatible KIN3XT v1.0 and P3's one click upgrade

you have to root and forever root while still on 886. the released script was never meant to root 5.5.893. it was for 5.7.893. that what is used in the original path saver script and thats why everyone lost root when they updated because the rooting failed. you need the runmebbb.bat fix for the path saver which roots and forever roots you before updating anything.

Okay cool. I think im grasping this. Sorry I have a few more questions. So is the runmebbb.bat fix included in the link in the OP for the Path Saver? Im downloading whats in the first link from the OP.

And if thats included in there, do I just run the runmebbb.bat and does that take me back to .866 where I can root and forever root?

no need to apologize. :happy3: im happy to answer questions. i already had the all the scripts before starting this so i had no need to download the first link. i would think he put the fix in there though. if not ill try and find the link to it. when you get the runmebbb.bat file all youll have to do is run it and will restore everything to stock, root, forever, and boot you into recovery automatically. all you have to do is flash the updates in stock recovery.

I am stuck on the fastboot screen (boot Failed) :frown: ive read through this thread and tried everything here to no avail. any help is appreciated.

btw the screen says:

Invalid CG OTV (CG: system): Invalid SP Data
Invalid CG OTV (CG: webtop): Invalid SP Data
Invalid CG Version (CG: Boot)

edit to say: this happened after p3's one-click script finished and auto-exited. i got the little droid man and the exclamation point, then nothing, i thought it was bricked, so i pulled the battery, now i cant get past the "fast boot (boot failed)" screen

(I now know that you have to press both volume buttons to be able to install the two updates. wish i would have known that then...)

were you already on 901 before you started this? sounds like the invalid cdt.bin file error. i can post the link in a minute to the script that fixes this in seconds. it happens when you do the path saver after already updating to 901 (maybe lost root and reattempting?), after installing the 893 update after the script finishes you have to flash the 901 cdt.bin file to get it to boot. i think thats what it is anyway. this script does it for you automatically though. just get to where it tells you invalid CG whatever in fastboot, open the script and run it.

i was on .866 with forever root and bionic bootstrapper. i am currently trying this method to fxz back to stock and then try again. should i try the one-click method in this thread's OP from a stock .866 or should i be rooted and bootstrapped first?

Okay I think I got it! I downloaded the link in the OP and it did have the runmebbb.bat. So all I have to do now, is run that, then it takes me to stock .866 and forever roots itself, and all I have to do is install the 2 updates in the same recovery session and then go about flashing the modified Kin3tx right?

Thanks so much for all your help!

For the record I have seen a significant improvement in 4g speed after updating the radio to. 901 and installing theory's rom.

Just did a speed test with 3 bars and saw 25mbps down and 8 mbps up.

This is an improvement from 8mbps down and 2 mbps up in the same area.

I highly recommend this update.

id go ahead and the pathsaver script. it does everything a fxz does and more. im about to post a 901 thread to end all 901 threads and post the pathsaver script with runmebbb.bat script, which is what youll need to retain root updating to 901, along with the cdt.bin script. if you keep getting the invalid CG error go ahead and run the cdt.bin script to fix it. and you do not need to be rooted or bootstrapped before starting the pathsaver script. it restores everything to stock including system, kernel, webtop, etc and then roots and forever roots for you. ill post the link to my thread that has the pathsaver you need to run. im not sure if the one in this OP has the runmebbb.bat fix already in it. id think it would though.

ok, i tried using the stock recovery to update to .901, that failed. so i then tried the .893 to no avail... now it is stuck on:
Invalid Flash Mode (S) (Boot Failure)
0A.61

Invalid CG Version (CG: boot)

just ran the fixcdt.bat you linked and that did nothing either

Are you following the OP? (Im not trying to sound mean by saying you're not, Im just curious to see if I should go that path).

I also remember reading that you're suppose to remove the Bionic Bootstrap? NVM, now that I think about it, you would'nt have to worry about it because you get reset to stock.

yeah ive been "rootin' and rommin'" since the og droid... this isnt my first rodeo and i thought i was following OP very well until i got to the stock recovery and didnt know what to do from there. (you have to press both volume buttons simultaneously to install the 2 updates) so i did a battery pull erroneously thinking the phone was messed up. that is where i believe my problems started.
