Update is signed . I bet a lot of Dev. have checked to make sure. If this is a hoax it is coming from VZW and MOTO. Something sure don't seem right.

I was also having redraw issues with the last couple of leaks, even tried CM, Sapphire, SS and a couple of others all with the same issues. So I installed the rooted version of this "leak" that jrummy put up when the pages of this thread were in the single digits. My phone is snappier and no longer has redraw for my home screen ( which was 5+ sec). Please don't tell me this is potentially malicious....my phone hasn't been right for weeks.

Welcome to the forum, hoppermi, and nice first post.

At the moment do not panic. As the previous poster said, a lot of Devs would have checked this out. All I was saying was the potential was there.

Pete's good. Trust his judgement. If the update was signed so it worked on stock recovery images and it's a hoax it's the first I'm aware of and someone managed to get such a dangerous tool in their hacker arsenal then this is Bad News, yes, but even if this isn't the final build that will be pushed out to users it's still trustworthy at the moment.

Hook and CK are disagreeing over the fact that since only person has received the "official" OTA posted at the start of this thread it's a hoax.

I'm not really disagreeing with him. I'm just saying the pieces don't seem to be coming together. And i got Miami on Gtalk telling me that CK is dead wrong.

Lol how am I dead wrong. I'm just passing on info from a respected member over at Android Forums.

If he is lying its no skin off my back he will have to deal with that.

Its my job just to share and bring some good info to everyone if I come across it. I've seen johns post over at AF for some time now and the Guy has a good "record" he has nothing to gain from lying about a silly update. Agains if he is lying then he will have to live with it but I just don't see him lying about a stupid update.

Nobody has claimed the cure for cancer here. They are just sharing a build that was pushed from VZW. You also have to look at the what does this person have to gain by lying? Its not like no one is going to receive 2.2. Everyone will get it. So what does he have to gain? Nothing. What does he have to lose? Everything. I just don't see him doing this and until the update starts hitting more devices this is the best bit of info out there.

It matches motos update page and a respectable Guy received it. Better than any rumor or "source" out right now.

This is just so silly this whole thing. Its an update nothing more nothing less.

I was thinking the same thing on the whole Gain Vs Loss.
Idk who the guy was from 2.1 when that update was posted, in which myself and many others too, flocked to manually install.
Why would this be any different?
If it was malicious; what are the symptoms of it being so?
My experience with this NEW version has been more of an improvement vs troublesome.

I think this circus is easily explained.

VZW devs pushed out the Froyo OTA. The devs sent the obligatory email to the VZW powers that be, that the Froyo OTA was started. Mr Marketing VP had a cow! D2 is about to hit the shelves with Froyo. We need to move units! How are we going to do that if everyone has Froyo. Stop the Froyo OTA!

So then the question arises at VZW ... how do we explain starting it and stopping it?

Mr Marketing VP being the genius he is sez... no need to explain. Leak another build. Let the Android community go crazy figuring it out. As they find flaws, leak a super secrete one off build OTA to start another crazy buzz. While they are going crazy trying to get to the bottom of all this, the entire Android community is paying hyper attention to us. D2 hits the shelves. The crowd goes crazy to scarf up the only VZW Froyo available. Then when the D2 dust settles... we release Froyo to the community at large

The preceding has been the delusional thoughts of someone who knows little of Android, Moto or Verizon but a little more about Fortune 500 America. YMMV

Is it in the settings instead of a button? If not and you really want it back you can find any number of .apk files to install that'll set you right up.

I don't know for sure, but in my own opinion, it doesn't seem like there is any ota update goin on at the moment.

I'm also playing a game where I try to get thru a page without seeing a furbearingmamma post. So far I'm losing haha.
