I'm one of them...
I believe this question was already asked but I didn't see an answer. What about if your stock and you did the manual update last week? are we good or will we get another OTA update?
ummmm, from page 1.
From CK:
As a side note this new full update will not work once you use last weeks OTA update. The script specifically looks at what you currently have running.
However, I
think in the thread I read that people have successfully manually installed this update. I could be wrong. Go with what CK says.
Hook, you're correct about what you think - I saw a couple of posts this morning where people said they had applied Pete's full update from the OP over a manually-installed FRG01B successfully. Since I haven't been real happy after the manual install I did last week, I decided to try it myself.
Sure enough, in spite of what CK and Pete said about the script not updating the manual FRG01B, it appears to have actually done so. All I did was d/l the zip file in the OP, stick it in the root of my SD card as update.zip, and do the Power+X thing to reboot and install it (with a cache wipe for good measure).
Why do I think it worked? Well, because:
1) It took about as long to extract and do its thing as it took me to smoke a cigarette, instead of simply aborting immediately as I thought it might. In other words, it behaved exactly like 2.01, 2.1 and 2.2 FRG01B had.
2) I'm browsing in ES Explorer and can see that /system and nearly all of its subdirectories are dated 7:34am today, which is precisely when I did the update. The are a few directories dated about half an hour later, which is when I rebooted again with a battery pull (also just for good measure).
3) I won't be able to play with wi-fi much until this evening, but for the few minutes I played with it this morning it showed full signal strength instead of the 0-bars that it had been showing last night (even though it behaved as if it had full strength, which should sound familiar to readers of these threads).
4) My 3G seems to be more stable today than it's been since the manual install. I realize this could be coincidence - I'm just sayin'...
5) The phone has just plain been feeling snappier and smoother all day. Could that be the placebo effect or wishful thinking? Certainly! Without scientific measurements I can only say touchy-feely things, but isn't that appropriate for a touch-screen phone?
And just to be perfectly clear: my Droid has been pure stock since the day I bought it in January, though I confess I'm sorely tempted to root while I wait for details on the Droid Pro and Gingerbread!
