ALERT! 2.2 FroYo Circus continues...FRG01B is Official get it here.

So has anybody noticed the difference in CPU Speed between the 45.2 MB update and the 76.9 MB update listed in this thread. The "full" update seems to be running at 600 Mhz and I'm fairly certain that the first FRG01B was running at 800 Mhz.

Can anybody confirm the speed of the first update?

I downloaded it now how do I put it in my phone?
"Download the .zip file above to a known location on your computer, and rename it 'update' (no quotes), keeping the .zip extension intact. Attach your phone to computer via USB, and access your sdcard. Place the 'update.zip' file into root of your sdcard. Remove phone from computer, and using a file manager, locate the update.zip file on your sdcard root to verify it transferred properly-the file manager should show it as a 'zipped' or compressed file. With file present, power down your phone, and boot into recovery mode. Select the update.zip file and allow the phone to apply the update. The initial boot of the new FroYo update has been reported to take a while, so be patient..FroYo won't melt! If you run into any problems, you are in luck! We have fora and threads dedicated to getting you quick help! Look for 'sticky' threads in Droid General. Enjoy your FroYo!"

I know by posting this that alot of people here will probably question this because of my low post count. I have been trying to decide for awhile if i wanted to root again or wait for the 2.2 OTA, last night i decided to root my 2.1 so i downloaded "easyroot", just before i was about to root this morning at about 12:30 a.m. i received an OTA update notification for 2.2, i installed it and it seems to be running good. Afterwards i then rooted with "easyroot". I have no reason to make this up, i've learned alot from this site and just want to put this info out there. I am assuming that other people are getting the OTA update also..... Thanks

Me and my brother both have droids. He got the ota froyo update today. I have yet to receive mine. I'm stock 2.1 rooted. He is just stock unrooted. I compared the baseband and kernels. Obviously the my kernel is different cuz i use a chevy kernel. The baseband number is also different from mine. So i guess that changes as well.

I'm wondering how i should go about getting froyo..either just install a stock froyo with root using SPrecovery (which is what i have), or downgrading to 2.0.1 so i can just accept the stock froyo ota update, and then just root that with Easy Root. I guess either way shouldn't make a difference.

I do wonder however, between the update.zip that is an 'upgrade' from 2.1 to 2.2, and the other update.zip that is a 'clean install." The ota 'upgrade' obviously just upgrades to froyo without clearing all your apps and settings(or at least thats what i understand right?), so i don't really see why i'd have to use a 'clean install' to prevent 'bugs' that may be on the 'upgrade' zip file. To me, the 'upgrade' zip would be more like the official ota update right? Hmmm...oh what to do, what to do... :)

OK I just updated to the Jrummy version of FRG01B and it is faster. I was running FRG22 for the past week but the re-draw times on my home screens were lagging this seems to have cleared that up. I just ran a Quadrant @ 842, the best I did with FRG22 was in the 740s.
I do have one problem... I seem to have lost root!:icon_evil:
I tried to test WiFi tether and it said root required:icon_evil::icon_evil:

I am sure I downloaded the correct file... I'm going back to Jrummys post and make sure I read it correctly.

YOU DO NOT NEED TO ACCEPT THE OTA TO PUT A FROYO ROM ON IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Having said that, if you have SPRecovery, just use it to flash one of the two or three or possibly by now twelve rooted FRG01B ROMs kicking around. Maybe you'd like to try the FRG22 ROM kicking around instead.

just the fact that, i haven't seen very many people that have got it yet...

True true..i understand that. As of right now, i prefer the stock OS's. For example, i installed SPrecovery, and then used an update.zip that simply added su and superuser (it was a 500KB file) and thats it! Now i use some root apps and of course overclock. And really that all i want to do with froyo. So what i have now is a true stock 2.1 OS with superuser permission added (as opposed to an entire 2.1 rom being flashed). I don't know if there is any difference between the two, but it makes me feel better anyway lol. But i am getting closer and closer to trying out custom roms. I'm sure i'll be playing around with those pretty soon.

In the meantime though, if i installed the update.zip that simply 'upgrades' to 2.2 (as opposed to the one that is the 'clean install'), i would therefore NOT have to worry about clearing cache and data when installing the update.zip correct? Everything would stay intact?

OK I have verified that I used the correct file and I am in fact no longer rooted what's up with that? I no longer have SPRecovery and power-Xed into the stock recovery screen.
I also just tried Titanium Back Up and got the message that I need root access.:icon_evil:
