ALERT! 2.2 FroYo Circus continues...FRG01B is Official get it here.

With the push being back on we can assume that the delay has nothing to do with the Flash integration. Otherwise it wouldn't have started up again till they could put it in. Check the release notice/PDF flier kicking around. It expressly mentions that Flash will be available after the update.

so if i wanna go from stock root 2.1 to stock root 2.2 using sprecovery, will i have to wipe data and cache or can i just update and all my apps and settings will remain?

what is the easiest method to get from stock root 2.1 to stock rooted froyo? I'd prefer a way to just upgrade so my apps and setting would still be there, just like the official ota. The only file in here is the full 'clean install' one, and i know the one that simply upgrades is for non-roots right?

Right. There is no sure-fire way to upgrade to keep root, apps, and settings. You're kind of stuck losing at least one of the above.

Not sure how to boot in recovery mode?
Are you saying you don't know how to boot into recovery?

Power phone off. Press and hold X on the keyboard. Do not release it. Power phone up and release power button. Continue holding X. Wait for recovery to boot. Now you can release the X.

Looks like the wait might not be too long (vzw says it 2.2 update will be complete by 8/18) if this post is legit

Sorry, hate that you can't edit posts... the article seems to indicate that the rollout will be complete by 8/18, the update is already complete and being rolled out as we all know at this point.

dude thanks so much for answering all these posts. i got another question for you please...

is there an update.zip i can download that i could use with sprecovery to get me stock froyo (that will leave me without root and with stock recovery) and keep my apps and settings? Then that way, i could just use Easy Root to root my phone after that.

If that way isn't possible, i guess it wouldn't be hard to put the 'clean install' with root from this thread. In order to do that though, could you briefly go over the steps i'd need to take in order to regain everything? So for example, i would have to first make a nandroid backup, then backup all my apps and settings using titanium backup, then go into SPrecovery and clear cache and data, then install the virgin 2.2 rooted rom, then root with Easy Root, and then install titanium backup again and use it to retrieve all my apps and settings? Does all this sound correct? And if something goes wrong during this process, i can just restore my nandroid backup?

Thanks so much for your help. It is very much appreciated :)
