ALERT! 2.2 FroYo Circus continues...FRG01B is Official get it here.

Hey gang. I got the notification of the OTA update early this morning and did it. It took maybe 10 minutes max to complete. I am running 2.2 now and I see the visual changes to the home screens, etc. HOWEVER, it tells me that I do not have Flash installed! I thought this was automatic. Anyone else experience this?

Thanks for your help!

Believe it or not over the last several days I have read every page of this thread and learned enough to be a danger to myself. I can get around computers fairly well and basically a Droid is a computer you can talk on so...
I have decided to install the update on page 1 (the one around 79megs.) I understand it doesn't wipe out the apps and all of that but just in case I would like to try this Easy Root app that got pulled from the market to use this Titanium backup app I read about on here that "IS" on the market to backup my phone. Then un-root the phone. Then install the update. Now comes the questions...

1.) I downloaded Easy Root from their website for the Motorola Droid (.apk) Now I have to put the file into the root directory of the Droid by transfering the file from the PC. Not a problem...once the file is on the SDcard what do I use to "RUN" the .apk file for it to install. Is it just a matter of going to MANAGE APPLICATIONS and picking it? or will that file even show up their?

2.) I'm assuming Titanium backup will do the backup of the phone after root. Since it is on the market it will install itself when I pick install. I will look at Titanium once I have it installed on how to backup and all that. If the phones apps and stuff are wiped out during the update I'm assuming that Titanium backup has put all my apps on the SDcard and I will be able to re-install Easy Root and then Titanium backup then re-install my lost apps...is this correct?

I have a couple of friends in Dallas who have not received the OTA update, I read the OP and got the impression it had been pushed out. Are they still rolling it out in some markets or has this one been pulled for some reason also?

Ur answer begins on page 1 of this thread. To my knowledge it is still being rolled out. From what I read it will be rolled out until Aug 18. Hope this helps

1.) You need a file manager of some sort, and then browse to where it was saved and install it from the file manager.
2.) I think you need to have root for titanium backup to be able to work properly. So you would have to reinstall the easy root thing manually for titanium backup to work.

I was running stock 2.1 non-rooted. I downloaded and installed the update file at the begining of this thread before reading someone saying that this file is for rooted phones only. Did I just screw up my phone?

Will OI FILE MANAGR work?

Yes, any file manager. If it allows you browse the contents of your sdcard on your phone, then it should work.

Exactly what I needed to know. Thanks. I started reading the first page but stopped when the "OMG YAYA" and "What is Froyo?" post got to thick.

Ok I will get a file manager. THANKS! The second question needs more detail. I understand Titanium needs root to run but after I run the Titanium back up before install of update and for some reason the update wipes out my apps. has Titanium saved everything to the SDcard so I can re-install the lost apps.? I understand the large update file un-roots the phone so I will have to put Easy Root back on the phone and then Titanium...but are the apps still on the SDcard so Titanium can re-install?

bassrunner67,

my understanding was that the latest full update (9046f5a3ec09.signed-voles-ota-45394.zip on page 1 of the thread) just checks you have 2.2 and closes

is this not the case?

I will definetly try it.

I was not rooted, installed the patch last week.....phone was glitchy (lag in the screen loading, f/c of some apps while in the car dock), downloaded the full version "over top" of the patch and phone is working as expected with 2.2 on it now....faster, no lag, no f/c's ....yet....:fingers crossed: :)

Ditto. Then crossed over to the dark side and purchased EasyRoot and SetCPU and am now running at 800mHz since 2.2 allows it (still have not ventured into the ROM/kernel area).

I'm using the same setup as you; no new kernels, etc. SetCPU works, but it won't start on boot. Did you have this problem? Otherwise, it works great.
