I installed Wireless Tether and the iPad sees the network but it will not connect. I updated barnacle to the newest version, again the iPad sees the network but will not connect. What do I need to do to get this working again? The ONLY reason I rooted was to wifi tether.
It's not a question of 'impatience'. This is just getting ridiculous. Either release it or don't. I don't want to 'hack' my phone in order to get an official update. Frankly, I don't have the inclination, nor the time to play chop shop with my phone. I'm already paying for it and I expect it to be supported properly.
I realize you may disagree, and I respect that. I'm just getting tired of waiting for 'them' to crap or get off the proverbial pot.

LOL! I don't either....I think everyone has just been lyin' about getting the update and doing it all manually...
sorry couldn't help it dancedroid you will get an update eventually. A buddy of mine just got it this morning and we are in South East Texas so it has reached down this far some at least.
I wouldn't consider it "hacking" to do a manual update. It's not like rooting or anything. A manual update is just taking the same OTA file that everyone else got and applying it to your phone by yourself.

ok, im tired of waiting for the ota, i want to update but i dont know how to get the file on my phone, i downloaded it onto my computer but the file isnt named update.zip.
can someone tell me step by step how to do this, please?
This is a known issue with BB. CyanogenMOD 6 RC-3 just hit (like, half an hour ago) for the Droid, so if you want to try it, now's a good time to try it.
If you want to keep BB, you need to tell it to install, reboot, and then allow SPRecovery or ClockworkMOD Recovery block the install. You may have to enter recovery manually to do so. I trust you're comfortable with that and know how to install without allowing an install of an update.zip.
I'm OK with SPRecovery, but am not aware of disallowing the installation once I get there. It's not a huge deal, but as I'm thinking of trying other ROMs, I don't want the nag screen to keep popping up each time I try a different ROM.
You'd think they would have a button to disallow the update. But imagine the confusion among "normal" users (not us here ) hitting the wrong button or not getting the update installed.

You have better odds of having a good, safe install if you do it yourself as opposed to waiting for the OTA. Problems are really wide spread, but some people do have issues. When you do it on line there is less chance of getting a corrupted file or anything else that can happen OTA.
