ALERT! 2.2 FroYo Circus continues...FRG01B is Official get it here.

Anyone having problems with being able to start your USB Storage to some computers after the FRG01B update? I hooked up my Droid to my computer (Running Windows 7 Ultimate x64) prior to the update, no problems starting the USB. After the update, I can't get my droid to keep the USB storage started. Basically, I start it up, it looks like it is started, then flips back to "Do you want to start USB Storage."

On another computer, (Running Windows 7 Home Premium), not having a problem, but also first time hooked up to that computer... Subsequent connections work normally (IE: Enable USB, connects to the computer fine).

Any help would be appreciated.

Crap, just realized that I wasn't running a "froyo" kernel of his, it was the same one I used for my 2.1update version. Could this be the problem?

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say yes. See below.

i'm running the stock rooted froyo with the stock kernel..before froyo, i was running stock 2.1 rooted with a LV Chevy 1.1GHz kernel from this thread.. http://www.droidforums.net/forum/ch...s-low-voltage-medium-voltage-3-25-2010-a.html

And I was wondering if i could use the same kernel for froyo?

You can't use an Eclair kernel with FroYo. At the very least it'll interfere with the battery and cause major performance issues, at the very worst it'll throw you into a boot loop.

http://www.droidforums.net/forum/ch...w-froyo-kernels-cpu-temp-monitoring-back.html is the link to ChevyNo1's latest kernels for FroYo, and as you can see they work in TempMonitor AND SetCPU to give you CPU temps, which up till very recently did not work under FroYo.

The install method is the same as it has always been, and if you want/need a refresher, see the link in my signature for instructions and help.

Great. Thanks so much!

Looks like the problem might have been with the port... Was able to get it to work *shrug* but doesn't make sense that the port works fine for other things.

I must have been on a "standard" voltage kernel furbearingmammal. Since I didn't know any better LOL I just switched. to a low voltage one from p3droid just to see what happens.

Just got official update

So the other day I was running across the street and my Droid fell out of my pocket and got kind of messed up. Anyways, I purchased a new one from craigslist and as soon as I got it I put my 2.2 FRG22 back up on it. Cause I was bored I set the broken droid (cracked screen and lots of scratches) back to 2.0.1. After first boot it downloaded the FRG01B update.

Anyone else get the official update?

Lots of people have. So the OTA will update 2.0.1... Interesting, because some people have said they can't update to 2.0.1 using the file from the OP without first updating to 2.1 first.

Hopefully it didn't send you into a boot loop! :)

So far I haven't seen a hiccup...just loaded it up and went. I know this thread will be a mute point after the next few days but it has been fun reading and trying different things. I'm so glad I decided to investigate what was possible with the Droid. I would have never believed it unless I saw it for myself. I've turned into a monster over the last few days LOL Theme is from Access Lane, Inc.

I went back to 2.0.1 using the SBF file and as soon as I booted up the update was there. The file size was about 47 MB not 77 as the one attached to the first post.

I had a rooted stock 2.1. I updated using the zip Jrummy posted. Am I still rooted now?? I used barnacle wifi tether before, now its not working. The app seems to run correctly but my ipad does not see the network. What do I do to get it working again?

^ edit ^

I installed Wireless Tether and the iPad sees the network but it will not connect. I updated barnacle to the newest version, again the iPad sees the network but will not connect. What do I need to do to get this working again? The ONLY reason I rooted was to wifi tether.

In case you missed it, look at the link in my signature that might serve your needs and install the latest version. Was the tethering working before you updated?

I just installed that and was trying it. The 2.0.5 version. Still nothing. Yes, I used barnacle with no problems at all before installing 2.2. With both barnacle and wifi tethering my ipad sees the network being broadcast, just wont connect. to it.

I use wireless tether with my ipad all the time, but each time I connect, I have to go into the wifi settings on the ipad and click on the arrow showing the wireless tether connection and then click on renew lease and that fixes it. Not sure why, but I have to do it everytime or it will not function.

Good luck
